Visitors to the 2017 edition of Yachts Miami Beach will see several changes, including a revamped layout, several entrances, beefed-up transportation and the ability to walk the show from the docks, not just the sidewalk, according to Trade Only Today.
The show, formerly free for visitors, will cost $20 to attend.
“We hired EDSA, a firm that does design work for Disney and other high-end locations and resorts,” said Brett Keating, vice president of marketing for Show Management, the company that co-owns and produces the show. “They have this amazing ability to take an existing site and put a fresh look and feel [on it], and work with landscaping and the flow.”
Water taxis will help visitors and exhibitors avoid Miami Beach traffic, and free shuttle buses will transport attendees and exhibitors between Yachts Miami Beach, which is owned by Show Management and the Florida Yacht Brokers Association, and the Progressive Miami International Boat Show, which relocated to Virginia Key last year. That show is owned by the National Marine Manufacturers Association.
“We have lots of exhibitors and clients that want to go back and forth, so we’re adding bus transportation back and forth,” Keating said.
“Transportation is one of our No. 1 focal points in bringing in EDSA. We want them to change the layout and the transportation,” she added. “The walking route through the show is going to be different because there’s going to be the option of navigating the show on the docks. We’re going to make that whole experience different.”
There also will be a new VIP experience, which will include a yacht and an on-water veranda.
