Michigan Trade Group Changes September Event Dates

The Michigan Boating Industries Association said the 2014 Boating Outdoor Festival was moved up a week to Sept. 11-14 at Lake St. Clair Metropark.

“When these dates became available we felt it was an opportunity to increase our chances of nicer weather and bring the festival to Harrison Township a week closer to the season,”show manager Nicki Polan said in a statement. “Our advisory committee also felt it was a positive move.

The festival is in its fifth year and will include hundreds of boats (power and sail), accessories and other outdoor recreation products. Additional attractions include food, music, beer tents, special attractions and promotions.

The festival showcases 115 exhibitors. Organizers said more than 12,000 people are expected to attend. The show added floating docks last year to expand the event into the marina basin, increasing the number of boats for visitors to see and purchase.

“We already have demand for additional docks to expand the show again,” Polan said. “We’re gearing up for another successful year.”
