“With our sixty years of experience, OTAM is an example of Italian yachting excellence, the result of professional expertises and passionate craftsmen, who ably create unique products that are highly appreciated by very demanding owners” – Giancarlo Rampezzotti, President of OTAM.
O.T.A.M. – now known as OTAM – was created on July 19th, 1954. Abbreviation for Organizzazione Tigullio Assistenza Motoscafi, OTAM is the historic name for the company that was one of the first yacht storage yards in Liguria.
Thanks to the ability and nautical passion of the skilled workers that make up the company, OTAM quickly widened their horizons to become an authorized Riva service yard.
OTAM’s first models were the OTAM 36′ and the OTAM 38′. During the 1970’s, the yard’s special capabilities, combined with the dedication of their craftsmen, allowed OTAM to create a construction yard that built fifteen triple planked wooden yachts, many of which are still sailing today.
Even then OTAM stood out for their craftsmanship, together with a meticulous selection of construction materials. The yards intent has always been to guarantee uncompromised quality and performance. With the arrival of fiberglass as a construction medium, OTAM definitely began to “plane”.
During the 1980’s OTAM began their collaboration with Magnum Marine and proceeded to fit out more than 25 yachts for the American yard’s Mediterranean market.
The legendary “OTAM Pier” at Santa Margherita Ligure was also a fixture in the 80’s. Placed in the center of the marina, with a capacity for over 70 yachts, the Pier offers complete assistance with the same characteristics as the Genoa Marina where OTAM is located today.
The OTAM yard leapt forward in the 1990’s with two mythical models: the OTAM 45 and the OTAM 55. Since then the yard has built more than 70 yachts, earning high acclaim from both the public and nautical specialists thanks to OTAM’s reputation for reliable and luxurious offshore yachts, built for the elite that values performance and seakeeping qualities above.
In recent years the Millennium range offering has become even richer with four more models: a 50′ open and a 58′ open, a 65′ hardtop, and in April 2014 an 80′ (25 meter) in both open and hard-top versions.
The Millennium range
Millennium 100: clean lines, elegant trim and high performance; a perfect synthesis of sophistication and innovation.
Millennium 80 Hardtop: a concentrate of refined technology, sportiness, design and elegance.
Millennium 65 Hardtop: aggressive, stylish with a precise choice of materials and details designed for superior performance.
Millennium 58 Hardtop: aggressive but obedient, to satisfy every need either at 56 knots or when enjoying relaxing moments.
Millennium 58 Open: aggressive but obedient, to satisfy every need either at 56 knots or when enjoying relaxing moments.
Millennium 50: the most recent model, first in performance, livability and technology.
Millennium 45: Authoritative, racy & sporting. Dedicated to those who have made speed a way of life.
“The OTAM range offers highly demanding clients who love luxury performance the opportunity to customize both layouts and finishings for an exclusive and singular offshore yacht. In the near future we will amplify our range with the Millennium 100, along with a few surprises for the mega-tender and chase boat market”, states Antonio Caviglia, OTAM Sales & Marketing Director.
Today the Genoa based yard boasts over 3,200 square meters of covered facilities with 4,700 square meters in the open. The area with direct access to the sea of over 10,000 square meters allows mooring for yachts recently launched with the new 180 ton Travel lift or with the 40 and 150 ton trailers that can handle yachts up to 40 meters in length and 180 tons. Plus, OTAM has a private marina with more than 35 berths for yachts up to 45 meters in length, with water and electrics, video surveillance and monitoring 24/7.
ABOUT OTAM – 60 years of expertise in speed and performance
OTAM was founded in 1954. The OTAM Millennium range is the result of 60 years of power boating experience, and currently includes seven models: the 45′, the 50′ Open, the 58′ Open or HT, the 65′ HT, the 80′ HT and the Millennium 100. OTAM is based in Genoa at Sestri Ponente, with over 17,000 square meters of facilities and direct access to the sea. All OTAM production is carried out in Genova by workers and professionals (about 50) who have collaborated for decades with the yard.
60 years of expertise in speed and performance – Hulls made by OTAM are built using a blend of aramat and vinyl ester resin, designed to guarantee complete safety and comfort even at high speed in rough sea. With a dead-rise of over 21°, an OTAM hull gives a soft and fluid ride through the waves. Full safety is assured even while cruising at 40 knots with a big sea (Force 3 to 4). Incredible performance, a top speed between 50 and 58 knots (depending on the model), is obtained by precise control over the power to weight ratio, creating a perfect synergy between hull design, Arneson surface propellers and weight distribution. On average, any OTAM model consumes no more than 10 liters ( 2,6 gallons) per nautical mile at a cruising speed of 40 knots (at apx 1,600 rpm), up to 40% less than any competitor. This singular characteristic puts OTAM at the forefront also in the new sector of luxury chase boats and mega-tenders.
A yard for the happy few OTAM builds seaborne Granturismo models for those who really understand the meaning of “customized”. Every yacht is designed to measure as part of a process that begins with an analysis of each clients desires, developing each detail with maniacal attention. Over 75 OTAMs have been built – each yacht is a unique experience, not just a product.
