Antigua Charter Yacht Show, Day 2 – Let The Games Begin

December 5, 2015 7:29 pm

With the Antigua Charter Yacht Show in full morning swing this morning, over 200 brokers, vendors, and media alike stroll the docks.  They are here taking full advantage of the opportunity to view the 80+ yachts that are in attendance.  Unlike many other yacht shows, Antigua is focused solely on charter, which means these yachts must look their very best.  They seek to impress in hopes of being recommended among the top available for booking the vacation of your dreams across the crystal blue waters of your choosing.

The view from my room at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina is spectacular – the perfect perspective for comparing these vessels side-by-side over a morning coffee.  Sail and motoryachts line the docks, and it’s difficult to even know where to start the viewing.  There is excitement in the air as the careful planning and anticipation of this annual event finally comes to life.

Here you will find impressive numerous motoryachts available for charter, such as the 146 Feadship HARLE, 116’ Crescent UNBRIDLED, and 105′ Azimut ANDIAMO. If sailing is more your style, you’ll surely be impressed with the 109’ Alloy MARAE or 67’ Fountaine Pajot catamaran BAMARANDI. I remind myself that this is only one of three marinas, each displaying 20-30 yachts, and I carry on to see what these vessels have to see.

As the afternoon winds down into the evening, I am surrounded by complete and utter beauty.  The sunset paints the sky with pinks and oranges, and backdrop could not be more picturesque from every angle.  The boats wrap up their viewings at 5:30pm, and everyone in attendance hurries back to their hotels for a brief rest.  This evening holds the Antigua Charter Yacht Show’s official welcome dinner, and it an event certain not to be missed!
