Yacht broker Dean Stuhlmann grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, spending most of his summers boating at the Lake of the Ozarks in Southwest Missouri. He bought his first boat at age 13, a 16’ runabout with a 65HP outboard. After graduating from the University of Missouri, Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking and Real Estate, he moved south to Florida, where boating was a year round event.
In 1985 he settled in Fort Lauderdale, where he worked in commercial real estate for 10 years. He spent almost every weekend at the family home in Islamorada, in the Florida Keys, fishing every chance he could in his center console. In 1992 he got his US Coast Guard Merchant Marine License (which is still current). In 1993 he started Keys Custom Marine, in Tavernier, Florida, a dealership for Ocean Master semi-custom fishing boats.
While still operating Keys Custom Marine, Dean obtained his Florida Yacht Sales License in 2004. The experience helped him get his feet wet in brokerage, selling boats to/for friends and customers. Dean closed Keys Custom Marine in 2014 to work in brokerage full time. Soon after he joined Denison Yachting as a specialist in motor yachts and sport fishing boats.
From his beginning at Denison Yachting, he has represented both buyers and sellers on boats from center consoles to motor yachts. Additionally, Dean has represented buyers on new builds in Europe. His knowledge has helped many first time buyers as well as seasoned yachtsmen. From this he has formed solid relationships and friendships along the way. He lives and breathes boating and is here to assist you with your yachting needs.
Dean’s hobbies include sport fishing around the world including Cairns, Australia; Los Suenos & Tamarindo, Costa Rica; Iztapa, Guatemala; the Bahamas; the US Gulf Coast and Key West to Pompano Beach, Florida. Besides his passion for fishing he also enjoys diving, spearfishing, snow skiing, strength training and traveling.
