M/Y Lionwind is an historical yacht with a pedigree from the graceful pen of Jon Bannenberg and the master craftsmen of Feadship. She has been sold and currently is undergoing a refit that will restore her to her former glory as well as add some amazing enhancements.
Join us as we take a walkthrough of this classic superyacht:
We’re onboard the Lionwind. She’s a vintage Feadship which was built in 1983. She’s 155 feet in length and 27.5 feet in beam. She’s currently located in Antalya and Turkey at Sunrise Yachts. I think it’d be fantastic to let clients know what we can do with this yacht. It’s a full repaint, new engines, it’s a BMTU 4000s, potentially new decks, a new power converter, new generators.
We’re doing actually a new design on the transom which is going to actually modernize the yacht slightly but without taking the vintage look away from the design. One thing that we’re going to do with this yacht is also completely upgrade the interior. Pretty much anything clients want to do; we can install an additional 6th cabin as well in this yacht.
Feadships are renowned for being the iconic pedigree yacht in the world, and I think that you have to have a true appreciation of what pedigree this yacht is, and the vintage status of this boat is really, really amazing, and she has to be appreciated for what she is.
Okay, let’s go and take a full walkthrough on Lionwind. Entering onto the yacht through the starboard side on the main deck aft, you immediately go through two double doors into the main salon aft seating area.
Just off of the main deck foyer, you have one of two VIP staterooms. So continuing forward from the entrance on the starboard main deck, you enter into a foyer space which has a hallway which passes through another sitting area, which is very unique midships and that’s located on the starboard side.
There’s going to be a planned significant upgrade for the soft fabrics and absolutely including the headliners, which need modernizing.
On the center salon area, there’s a bar area that’s hidden behind two double doors. On the port side you have a very spacious galley, which is set out very logically where it’s got enough room for the chef and for the crew.
We have plans to move the galley down the deck and open this up to a large salon area. Moving forward from the center salon sitting area on the starboard side, we enter into another unique area on this vintage Feadship.
The observation lounge is a unique feature on this yacht. This is a great sitting area to look out the window, very peaceful, nice for reading.
So moving down from the midship salon, we have three guest cabins. We have a port and starboard guest cabin which are identical twins. Each cabin is fitted with electric shades, and every cabin in this boat is ensuite. The lower guest cabin is full beam. Clearly this would be one of the most comfortable cabins onboard the yacht.
Moving forward from the center salon you have a separate stairway down to the master cabin. As you enter down the stairs you’re confronted with two double doors into the master stateroom. Now the TV lift might not seem impressive. But you’ve really got to imagine having this done 32 years ago. The master stateroom of course comes with an ensuite head and large shower.
So we are on the bridge deck now in a very unique place. This is a fantastic area for dining. You get a feel of dining inside but also outside at the same time.
Also the curtains can be lowered to give a little more shade or you can open these up just to let a bit more light in. This table is very unique. It’s huge as it is, but it actually opens up and doubles in size.
Moving forward into the bridge you get a sense of a destroyer-type bridge. Absolutely amazing, and it’s a privilege to see this kind of bridge. We plan a huge upgrade of all the navigation and communication systems to bring it to the 21st century.
Another amazing feature on this boat is the woodwork. Absolutely sensational and still in exceptional condition after 32 years.
So we’ve already walked through the interior bridge deck dining area. Now as you pass on the portside going further aft, there’s an exterior dining area, which is quite amazing that this deck can accommodate two fantastic different dining areas.
Moving further aft on the bridge deck aft, we have a very large crane, which can accommodate the two yacht tenders, one limo tender and one rigid inflatable. Also we’re planning to do an installation of the Jacuzzi just forward of the crane here.
Now you’ve seen Lionwind. You can appreciate her true character. She is definitely an iconic yacht, a true vintage Feadship.
