Production Boat Takes Trophy at Abaco Shootout

Denison was proud to sponsor The Shootout – Production vs. Custom fishing tournament this weekend at the Abaco Beach Resort & Boat Harbour Marina in Abaco, Bahamas.

Denison broker Dean Stuhlmann attended the tournament, which is leg 2 of the Abaco Diamond Series. Production sportfish boats challenged the custom boats in this all-release format. Hatteras also sponsored the event.

MISS VICTORIA, a 2015 65’ Viking, took first place honors with 3,800 points. WAVE PAVER, a 2004 61’ Garlington Landeweer, took second, and another production boat, NOTORIOUS, a 2017 70’ GT Hatteras, took third. 

“This was the first time that a production boat won the tournament,” Dean said. “There was an amazing bite for the three-day tournament, with 33 boats and 61 billfish caught during the first day and 154 caught overall.”

The winning marlin was caught by Junior Davis from the WAVE PAVER, and top lady angler went to Jen Copeland on LAST DANCE.
