GALILEO: 72 Absolute Motoryacht Walkthrough

Absolute Yachts has been building boats for the last 20 years, and they build boats from 40 feet all the way up to 73 feet. And this 72′ flybridge is a good example of what you can see in the quality and layout and design of what they do.

We’re going to start our tour on the flybridge of this 72′ yacht. As you go aft, you have areas for lounge chairs, storage. As you move forward, you have really nice comfortable U-shaped seating with a table that will open up to allow for dining at night.

As you move over to the portside, it’s got a grill, it’s got a refrigerator down here, an ice-maker, sink but everything’s easy to get to where I would want it if I were to build this boat. As you move forward here, they’ve designed this where you have a really nice open seating, so you can have people up forward next to the helm station lying out and then that conjoins with your wraparound seating. So the layout is done very very well.

This boat has IPS 1200s. It’s got a 24 knot cruise and will top out close to 30 knots. We have the Raymarine package, double screen. This allows for Wi-Fi connection, depth sounder, radar, all the things that you would want in electronics nicely done in two packages.

Let’s make our way down from the flybridge down to the stern. Here we are on the Absolute 72 hydraulic platform. We have chalks here for your tender, so you can pick your jet ski or your inflatable. This boat has a crew quarters and head back here. But we’ll come back to that later. Great storage with access to your fenders, lines anything that you need for storage. It’s just a great space. This is much bigger than many of the 72s I’m on.

As we move up to the aft deck, we have boarding doors on both port and starboard for safety, very nice feature. We have a great lounge with a very large table for entertaining 8-10 people; we have a really nice feature here. Cockpit controls with your joystick control and your electric bow thruster with your display. On that same side, we have your electrical panel. This operates your passerelle up-down move forward or aft and then your hydraulic platform up and down. You also have a remote control for those functions.

For an Italian builder, this is really a good size bow area. You have U-shape seating and the sun lounge which you don’t get in a lot of boats. So this is really a good size; Absolute did a great job when designing this. But looking at a yacht in this size, the transition between the aft deck and the salon is a very important function. This allows you to come in through this salon, very seamless, no different levels. This has an L-shaped seating with a single seat as well, beautiful oak floors; you have a pop-up Samsung flat-screen TV. If you’re not looking at TV, you just hit a button and that will electrically go down. This particular owner along with one other builder with GALILEO did this in a light decor, which really makes the boat very open with these big windows. It just gives the boat a nice touch, making it look really elegant.

Walking forward into the dining area in your galley, it’s just incredible. You get a lot of nice space here, container for your glassware here, seating for 6 formal dining which is nice in a 72 footer. You have an open space here but it’s a little bit nicer. You do have this bulkhead here that gives you a little bit of privacy in your galley. You have a nice island that just gives you some storage here but gives you a countertop if you wanted to have some stools here – just a nice effect in the galley. You’re able to build this refrigerator with any design you like – wine cooler freezer, refrigerator. Bosch 4-burner and also convection microwave, you have a nice stainless steel sink, plenty of storage throughout here. And this particular owner opted for some more storage. So what they did is they built this countertop over here to give you more storage with a little seat so that you can actually communicate and talk with your pilot or owner of the boat. But that gives you more counter space while you’re entertaining and cooking. There’s never enough counter space on some of these boats. Storage up top here, nice windows, 360 degree views, so I think Absolute did a great job at designing that.

And moving from the galley over to the lower helm, we have two electrical seats here, which move in any different position that you like with a nice footrest. You have two Raymarine screens. In the center here we have the NaviOP vessel control system. This system will allow you to check all your bilge pumps, any of the systems AC/DC and very easy to use. Same features that we had on the flybridge and this boat has a sea keeper 9 that only reduces up to 89% of the roll. But you have everything that you need up here. You have your Volvo Information Center, which will give you your hours, all your information on the screen and good visibility. Most important on these boats, their helm is a little more forward but this gives you a great view and just a nice design.

As we come down to the staterooms, we come down your steps and aft is your master stateroom. What a great space, high ceilings, big windows – everything that somebody’s looking for in today’s yacht. We have a nice flat screen Vizio, TV with Bose surround sound. In the master head, we have a head, bidet, towel rack, keep your towels warm just a beautiful layout in this boat.

Heading forward and to starboard we have the side by side guest stateroom. Across from here is the portside double berth stateroom, guest suite, both the port and starboard stateroom both share the dayhead; a great day head for a boat of this size.

The bow forward of the boat, you have this spacious VIP stateroom with a queen berth and then over to the port side we have the en-suite head, all three guest staterooms are beautifully appointed with rainfall showerheads and glass doors.

As you walk into the crew stateroom, we have a twin berths side-by-side that gives you lots of room, a washer/dryer and then you have an access door to your engine room, which is really spacious. She’s powered by the VOLVO IPS 1200, which is 900 horsepower and these boats were actually built for the IPS series.
