During my younger years, I boated in Saugatuck, Michigan, where I occasionally had opportunity to hang out on the bow of RJ Peterson’s River Queen with your grandfather, Frank Denison. As they say, those were the days!

Seven years ago, my wife and I moved to the East Coast and had gone boat-less for awhile. Last year, with help from your Annapolis broker, Lloyd Cooper, that changed. Former Tartan 37 sailors, we worked with Lloyd to find the right power boat for Chesapeake Bay.

We initially vacillated between Trawlers, Motor Yachts and Sport Cruisers. With Lloyds help, we looked both online and in person at several tempting prospects.

After listening to each of us, Lloyd pointed out that we seemed to be looking for a weekend “Couple’s Boat” that could get us quickly up and down the Bay. He suggested a Tiara 3800 Open that he thought would soon be on the market.

Lloyd talked to the owner – who wanted to move up to a Tiara 4200 Open – and arranged for us to see his 3800 Open. Super clean, it perfectly fit the weekend “Couples Boat” concept. It was fast enough to get to St. Michaels or Solomon’s Island in a couple of hours, yet roomy enough to vacation on for a couple of weeks.

Throughout the purchase process, Lloyd asked the right questions and provided key insights that led us to the right decision. In this – our second year – we remain delighted with our choice.

But we’re already talking to Lloyd about our next boat – a retirement boat that will require live aboard accommodations and be suitable for doing “The Loop.”

As with the Tiara, Lloyd’s advice will get our first consideration. Whether it’s contemplating the next boat or discussing how to best enjoy the Bay, Lloyd’s is the first opinion we seek. We’re confident in his wise counsel and enjoy his friendship.
