Top Catamarans to See at Cannes Yachting Festival

July 24, 2018 11:15 am

The Cannes Yachting Festival is the largest in-water boat show in Europe, and one of the best places to preview new catamarans. Every year, there are a number of global debuts as well as many catamarans that never make it stateside to the American boat shows. So for 2018 in Cannes, here are yacht broker Wiley Sharp’s top picks to see during the event (September 11-16):

Fountaine Pajot Saba 50

  1. Fountaine Pajot Astréa 42
The Astréa 42 made her global debut a couple months ago at La Grande Motte, and was very well received by all those who boarded her. A lot of the key design feature’s from Fountaine Pajot’s earlier models were carried over into the Astréa, and a number of new innovative ideas were incorporated into her arrangement, from her inverted bow and hydraulic swim platform to her dynamic lines and incomparable interior space.
  2. Fountiane Pajot NEW 67 (Global debut at Cannes Yachting Festival)
Built with a sense of luxurious comfort while still appealing to the most demanding of sailors, the Fountaine Pajot NEW 67 is the shipyard’s recent flagship. She offers a versatile design that can be ordered in an owner’s version, 4-cabin layout for private use, or an all-out charter machine with 6 cabins, plus crew quarters.

  3. Sunreef 60 (Global debut at Cannes Yachting Festival)
The Sunreef 60 features a level of customization not often found in a production catamaran in her size range. She boasts a natural flow, from the hydraulic swim platform through the salon and on to the forward cockpit.
  4. Sunreef 80 (Global debut at Cannes Yachting Festival)
The Sunreef 80 borrowed a number of the innovative features from her predecessor, and combined them with the latest in catamaran design theory. Like all Sunreef catamarans, she’s a semi-custom production yacht that allows for a high level of personalization. Indeed, no two Sunreef catamarans are the same.
  5. McConaghy MC60 (Global debut at Cannes Yachting Festival)
In recent years, there’s been a shift back towards performance cruising catamarans, and the McConaghy MC60 is one of the latest designs launched. She’s a super high-performance cruising catamaran that has incorporated a fly bridge into the layout, while still keeping the “grand-prix sailing” lines.
