Yacht Review: Horizon V68 [New Model]

June 17, 2019 1:58 pm

Superyacht-Inspired Horizon Features Options Unheard Of In Yacht This Size

WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY:

“The V68’s design includes large open spaces, wide side decks and a voluminous interior that takes advantage of large windows in the main deck and cabins. The designers opened up the companionways to create ‘foyers’ and made the stairs larger with less rise to optimize the flow throughout the vessel.”

“Billed as a ‘mini superyacht,’ this yacht emphasizes comfort, comfort, and comfort…  All in all, the V68 seems to live up to its mini superyacht motif.”

–Northwest Yachting Magazine

Volume was achieved in a couple of ways. The most obvious, visually, is the plumb bow. The extra waterline length and plumb bow created plenty of forward volume for the VIP stateroom.

POWERBOAT GUIDE REVIEW

With her sleek profile and many innovative features, the Horizon V68 is easily among the most interesting motor yachts in its class. Because Horizon is a semi-custom builder, the V68 offers several three or four stateroom layouts to choose from, as well as various configurations for all three decks including an open or enclosed bridge. With a generous 19’5″ beam, the interior is palatial for a yacht this size. The standard three stateroom/three en suite head layout features an enormous aft salon open to the aft deck and a spacious country kitchen galley forward. A lower helm position is optional on the main deck level.

The V68’s plumb bow is unique — aside from increasing the yacht’s waterline length, it creates an especially spacious forward VIP stateroom. An extended swim platform is mounted to the transom, and a staircase leads from the aft deck up to the flybridge. The Horizon’s most innovative feature is the optional “beach club” three steps down from the swim platform, a superyacht-inspired retreat with an L-shaped settee and mini-galley concealed behind a watertight transom door. Twin Caterpillar 1136hp C18 V-drive diesels cruise at 16–18 knots (mid 20s top).
