Denison Yachting proudly sponsored the first ever Adrift Film Festival, a creative outlet for marine industry professionals to showcase short films incorporating their life at sea. The festival brought together yacht crew, captains, brokers, and more, where their films were judged in four categories: Best Short Film, Best Long Film, Most Creative Film, and perhaps most interesting, the Wild Card Film category. Filmmakers were given flexibility with their submissions, and were given a general guideline of submitting a video that was “about anything that conjures travel, adventure, a message, or simply good times.”
Over 300 contestants gathered at the film festival, hosted at Park & Ocean restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, on Wednesday, October 23rd. Hundreds of other participants and onlookers who were unable to attend the event joined in to watch the festival’s Instagram live feed. The Adrift team showcased all submitted films in a live screening, and afterwards, winners for each category were announced.
Instead of an entry fee, festival attendees were encouraged to donate with proceeds benefiting the Hurricane Dorian Bahamas relief. Denison superyacht broker Alex G. Clarke, who personally handled Denison’s sponsorship and worked with the Adrift team, also attended the festival.
The event provided the perfect opportunity for marine professionals from all areas of the industry to collaborate, network, and get to know each other before the upcoming 2019 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
