2020 Charter Destinations For US Travelers To Make The Most Of Your Year

Marina Nazario | September 11, 2020

Travel restrictions for US travelers are easing up — so where are the worthwhile international charter destinations to enjoy the remaining months of 2020? We’ve got the answers.

If you’re feeling the itch to resume international travel again, we are too. The US State Department lifted the Level 4 global travel advisory in August to provide country-specific levels of advice for US travelers. While waiting in airports, flying commercial planes, and staying in hotels comes with its own risks concerning the virus, chartering a yacht is a little more inviting. It’s probably one of the safest options for luxury travel because it’s an easily controlled environment. If yacht crew and guests take standard safety precautions before embarking, such as testing and sanitizing regimes, then it will lead to a more relaxing yacht charter for everyone.

Remember, there are still a handful of challenges when traveling to a foreign destination during the pandemic, including quarantine and testing regulations. When you charter a yacht to or at a foreign destination, the crew and charter management will help make your vacation as seamless as possible by helping you navigate customs and immigration upon arrival.

We found 5 charter destinations for US travelers to help you make the most of 2020. Some of the countries on this list have a mandatory 14-day quarantine for all visitors, which you can complete on the privacy and safety of your yacht charter. This is the most updated destination information as of September 9, 2020.

1. Croatia

If you’re going to fly to Europe, make it Croatia for an otherworldly 2020 charter destination. Not only is Croatia’s coastline breathtaking, but the blue-green colors of the Adriatic sea is hard to resist. A Croatia charter destination gives you the best of the Dalmation Coast — excellent snorkeling, playtime with yacht toys, and a salty breeze for sunbathing in privacy. You can visit ancient sites and restaurants as long as you’re wearing a mask.

Croatia is letting US tourists in with proof of paid accommodation. So you check that box thanks to a luxury yacht charter off the coast. Travelers also need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken within 48 hours, which lets you skip the 14-day quarantine. You can show an older test, but the government asks that you self-quarantine until you can provide a more recent negative test. Speed things up so you can enjoy the rest of 2020 by filling out Croatia’s entry form ahead of time.

2. Mexico

Flying into Mexico is less stressful for US tourists than other international destinations. Visitors are subject to temperature checks upon arrival and those showing symptoms may be asked to quarantine voluntarily.

Fly into Cabo San Lucas and head straight for a superyacht charter to enjoy a luxurious and exclusive Mexico experience. You’ll have the opportunity to swim with exotic fish, eat fresh food, and sink your feet into white sand beaches. You’re bound to come back from a Mexico charter destination with a golden glow and relaxed state of mind.

3. Turks & Caicos

Turks & Caicos is made up of more than 40 islands surrounded by brilliant blue water. The islands are relatively untouched thanks to a small population. A Turks & Caicos yacht charter is filled with tropical vegetation and nature, private land tours, whale watching, and dive adventures at The Wall.

Upon arrival to Turks & Caicos, all visitors over 10 years old must show a negative test result taken in the past five days. Tourists must have insurance that covers COVID-19 related medical costs and fill out a travel authorization form prior to arrival by plane. Once you and your guests are clear to head to your superyacht, it’s all sun, smiles, and snorkeling for the next few days.

4. The Bahamas

The Bahamas is slowly reopening to international travelers. A yacht charter to The Bahamas is one of the safest and most private experiences you can have in the Caribbean. Fill your days with snorkeling, laying on quiet beaches, and enjoying cocktails on the sundeck of a luxury superyacht.

The latest update allows commercial flights, private flights, and sea vessels to travel into, within, and out of The Bahamas. All travelers must submit an electronic health visa and proof of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken no more than five days prior to the date of arrival. No matter if the test is positive or negative, all visitors are required to self-isolate for 14 days. If that means on a private yacht, then lucky you.

If you want to extend your stay, Tropic Ocean Airways will deliver supplies, fly-in guests, or assist with crew rotations to and from your vessel to make your yacht charter more comfortable.

5. Barbados

Sunny skies and pink sand beaches are waiting for you in Barbados. The country is now open to US travelers. All tourists must complete an online immigration and customs form within 24 hours of arrival, and it is recommended that travelers have proof of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before entry. If you don’t have a previous test result, you’ll be given one at the airport and are required to wait there until given the results.

Once you’re through customs, kick your feet up on a luxury superyacht. Snorkel in one of the secluded coves on the North Coast of the island, or boogie-board the waves into the pink shoreline of Crane Beach. You’re going to find clear, warm waters around the island of Barbados.

If you’re eager to travel somewhere during the remainder of 2020, do it in the safety and style of a private yacht charter. Contact a Denison charter management specialist to book your next vacation. They’ll work with you to make it the safest possible yacht charter for you and your guests.
