The standout features on the Excess 12 include twin helms aft, a retractable sunroof over the cockpit, and a pulse line rig. Her salon is open and bright, with a three-stateroom layout that makes her a comfortable boat for short or extended trips. The Excess 12 focuses on the fun of sailing while keeping in mind comfort.

The twin aft helm station is beneficial because it opens up the cockpit, making it feel larger than other catamarans in her class. We know what you’re thinking — what about the sun, rain, or spray with an aft helm catamaran? Beneteau thought of that. The helm station is designed to be protected from the elements. It also improves visibility for the captain, putting him right in the middle of the action while underway.

The cockpit is a notable highlight in the Excess 12. There has never been a catamaran designed with an optional retractable sunroof over the cockpit (a feature that is completely unique to the Excess range). The retractable sunroof adds the “open-air” quality that commonly describes this boat. The layout of the seating also creates a comfortable space to socialize or serve lunch once anchored.

The cockpit seamlessly flows into the salon, which is pleasantly bright once you’re inside. The galley includes a refrigerator, three burner stove, single basin sink, and oven, complete with a relaxed interior dining space. She features three to four staterooms and two heads with dry showers (which is not usually found in catamarans under the 40-foot range).
