Hi, I’m Russ Schafer with Denison Yachting and today we’re here in Stuart, Florida and I have the pleasure of taking you on the 2006 64′ Hatteras Sportfish, ON TARGET. Before we get started, there are three main reasons why any sport fisherman would want to purchase this yacht.
First, is the fishability. The Hatteras pedigree is renowned for a reason. The thick solid fiberglass bottom provides the centered weight necessary to plow through some serious seas on your way to your fishing spots. Once you’re there, you can put to use the 164 square foot teak cockpit with mezzanine seating, so the family can enjoy the day of fishing and diving.
The second thing that any fisherman would love is the comfort. This boat has everything you need to enjoy extended trips. She has two 27-kW generators and an 1800-gallon per day water maker to accommodate long days on the hook. The massive flybridge is fully air-conditioned with its own compressor, so you can cruise in total comfort. And inside, we have a three-stateroom, three-head layout with the coveted full-beam master, thanks to the massive 19-6 beam.
The third thing that sets ON TARGET apart is her power. She has C32 1800 horsepower Caterpillars, which is the preferred engine package with 1300 original hours, and received new aftercoolers in 2018. You can rest assured knowing that this vessel is ready to fish for years to come.
We’ll begin our walkthrough aft below the waterline. The first thing you’ll notice is the signature prop pockets which increase performance and reduce draft. These wrap around the 7-blade NiBrAl high-performance props. Also, there are four multi-colored led lights that can be found on the transom. You can pull your catch through the tuna door into the massive tea cockpit and keep it cool in either of the two 62-inch macerated fish boxes underfoot.
The centerpiece of this area is the custom teak blue water fighting chair found centerline. In the forward corners of the cockpit are concealed shore power outlets along with fresh and raw water wash downs. And further aft is the electric reel outlets.
To port is the mezzanine seating with upholstery that was updated in 2017. Opposite this seating to starboard is a tackle station and bait prep center. Just under the sliding salon entrance door is an additional chill box in the top step. Additional storage can be found in the mezzanine step and under the mezzanine seating is an Eskimo ice chipper for keeping your catch fresh.
Looking centerline, we have engine room access. Down here, in her engine room, is where we find the CAT C32 engines, the two Onan 27.5 kW generators and ice chipper. The current owner has had a full-time captain who has stayed on top of the maintenance and kept this engine room spotless. ON TARGET’S engine package gives a top speed of 30 knots and a cruise speed of 27 knots.
Up the teak steps, we enter the 186-square foot air-conditioned flybridge. Two custom STIDD helm chairs overlook the upgraded Garmin and Furuno electronics replaced in 2018, which are concealed in a pneumatically controlled console. An additional space with a hinge cover houses radar and sounder control heads and less essential controls.
On the starboard side is a rear-facing jump seat with insulated storage below. Forward of this is more freezer storage for extended voyages. Rounding out the flybridge is wrap around seating with a wrap around view to match in rod storage. On the hardtop are redundant Furuno radars — 148 miles, another 72-mile, and a custom mast with sat TV installed in 2016.
Now, we will head back down to the salon through a sliding door. Your first impression is going to be how open the space feels thanks to the massive windows and her 19’6″ beam. The high gloss cherry finishes complement the teak and holly sole to provide for a more luxurious yacht feel with plenty of lighting.
There is a split-level layout which has an oversized sofa style seating area with a table that faces a built-in 42-inch TV. The raised area forward is an open galley arrangement with granite countertops, 6-drawer under counter refrigeration, an electric cooktop, and a convection microwave. A dinette area is an arm’s length away from the starboard.
Now, we are going to head downstairs to check out the guest accommodations. Aft is the full-beam master. Thanks to the 19′ 6″ foot beam, it’s the largest in its class and continues the airy feel with hall side windows. Centerline is the walk-around king berth which is surrounded by storage. Forward is a flat-screen TV and access to the ensuite head.
Moving down through the companionway, we have a full-size washer and dryer and access to the remaining two ensuite staterooms. Our next stop is on the port side with side by side twin berths, TV, storage, and ensuite head. Opposite of this stateroom is the day head with shower. All the way forward is the VIP stateroom with island queen berth, lots of storage TV, and ensuite head.
As we head back outside we’ll end today’s walkthrough forward on the bow. The stainless steel bow rail adds plenty of assurance when heading to the foredeck in rough conditions. Once there, you’ll find the six-person life raft centerline, all the way forward is the hydraulic windlass with bowel pulpit and 60 pound Danforth stainless steel anchor with fresh water wash down.
Thank you for joining us today onboard ON TARGET. I truly believe she is a special boat with a lot to offer whether you’re tournament fishing or whether going on extended trips with the family. If you have any questions, you can reach out to me anytime.
