The last day of the 2021 Palm Beach International Boat Show was one for the books. Bright sun and high temperatures brought forth an excellent last day to catch up with guests and meet new friends at the Denison display. The docks were filled with guests who aimed to view as many boats as possible before the booths and displays packed up at 5 pm.
We highlighted new boats, exotic boats, and adventure travel — today we want to put the spotlight on the people behind the scenes. We hopped onboard TRITON, a 95′ Horizon 2007 to catch up with Bethany, a stewardess on the yacht.
Denison Yachting: How long have you been in the yachting industry?
Bethany: About 7 years in total.
Denison Yachting: What’s your favorite destination that you’ve traveled to by yacht?
Bethany: Maine, it’s so beautiful and really fun in the summer.
Denisont Yachting: What’s your favorite part about the yachting lifestyle?
Bethany: The people you meet — from people you work for to the people you work with — it’s a small industry, but also a very big industry. Yachting is so weird — it’s completely different than any other industry in a good way. It’s all about networking and you have to be ready for anything. You’ll be successful in the industry if you’re able to think dynamically and prepare yourself for different situations. The more you do it, the more you understand what might fail and what might work onboard.
Denison Yachting: What’s your favorite part about boat shows?
Bethany: Boat shows are the best — it’s long days but great for networking — there are potential owners and potential buyers and all these pope can help you when you’re part of the crew. Introductions are really big at boat shows, so it’s great to have someone like a broker to break the ice.
