We entered 2021 not knowing what to expect in terms of boating or yachting events. Were events that were postponed in 2020 going to happen this year? Were things going back to normal? Good news — we’re getting there.
There were a few speed bumps at the beginning of the year, with the Miami Yacht Show postponed until February 2022, but we made a comeback at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in March for a memorable event. If you missed PBIBS 2021, here are 9 more yachting events taking place in 2021. We include domestic and international boat shows, just in case you want to hop on a plane and enjoy France (revenge travel, baby).
Beneteau America will host its second Beneteau By Invitation event at Harbour Towne Marina in Dania Beach, Florida. Beneteau will showcase their latest model in the express cruiser line — the Gran Turismo 41. The event is a great opportunity to tour new boats in a safe, socially distanced fashion as Beneteau will respect all CDC and state-issued safety guidelines. RSVP to this event here.
If you happen to be in Turkey at the beginning of May (too soon?), stop by the third annual TYBA Yacht Charter Show. This is the most important yearly charter show event in Turkey for trade professionals, and this year’s event will have up to 70 luxury crewed yachts on display. It’s a great opportunity to view the best yachts in the region and network with local contacts to learn about the attractions available in Turkey. The show will be hosted at the award-winning Yalıkavak Marina.
Mixing it up a bit — the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club is hosting its 32nd annual Great Lakes Boating Festival that’s open to the public. GPYC is a great venue for exhibitors to showcase the latest yachts on the market along with marine products and services. The Boating Festival will feature a wide range of activities, vintage boat displays, and an art show. Funds raised at this event through a supporting auction are used to sponsor and support youth nautical education and competitive events throughout the Grosse Point community.
After rescheduling from a previous 2021 date, the Palma Superyacht Show will be held from June 3-6. The new dates coincide with the reopening of the island’s hotels and the projected start of Balearic tourism. Visitors can expect to see a variety of yachts including triple-decked motor yachts and sleek performance cruisers.
All superyachts will be immediately available for charter and/or sale, just in time to cruise the waters of the Balearics and enjoy the Mediterranean summer season (which starts right after the show). The Palma Superyacht Show is located in Moll Vell, a scenic marina in the center of the island’s capital, Palma de Mallorca.
Every year, Denison hosts a Rendezvous event to bring clients and brokers together for a fun weekend on the water. Last year, our event was held at Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo and included a flotilla, scavenger hunt, beach Olympics, and a themed dance party. Check out our 2020 highlights here and register for our 2021 Rendezvous here. Date and location TBD.
The Cannes Yachting Festival is one of our favorite boat shows, and not just because of the location (although, that helps), but because it showcases the best of the best in the yachting industry. The show has been held every September in the sparkling bay of Cannes since 1977. This year, it’s set across Vieux Port, one of the oldest ports on the Côte d’Azur, and Port Canto. Of course, there are other attractions as well including a luxury gallery, boat parade, and VIP programs.
Celebrating 50 years, the Newport International Boat Showis one of the largest boat shows in the country. It spans over thirteen acres of historic downtown Newport, Rhode Island. Visitors can view a display of new sailboats and powerboats, some making their first-ever debut in the United States. On land, you’ll find hundreds of marine products, services, and accessories to enhance the boating lifestyle. This boat show is set amongst coastal scenery, national historic sites, trendy boutiques, and world-class restaurants. Plus, fall in New England is really quite special.
You don’t need an excuse to go to Monaco, but if you happen to be there at the end of September, check out the Monaco Yacht Show. MYS hosts an impressive and international fleet of superyachts available for purchase or charter. Don’t expect to only see yachts, the show is supplemented by tenders, water toys, luxury brands, high-end cars, motorbikes, helicopters, and private jets. This boat show has been attracting a wealthy international clientele of yacht owners, and executives from the superyacht and luxury markets, since 1991.
Ok, ok, maybe this is our favorite boat show (we had a great time last year). The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show exhibits an array of the industry’s latest boats and yachts of all sizes, worldwide debuts, and a variety of marine products and accessories to enhance the nautical lifestyle. From yacht builders and designers to exotic cars and brokerage yachts, this show has something for everyone. We’re hoping the Superyacht Village returns this year after a pandemic hiatus. Denison will be at FLIBS 2021, stop by and say hi.
The world is opening up — slowly but surely – and the demand for travel and events is rising. If you’re into it, register for one of these 9 boating and yachting events. We’re especially excited to see you at our annual Rendezvous (register here). If you’re not ready for live events yet, contact a Denison yacht broker to schedule a private showing of our featured yachts.
