In the 17th century, Holland was the most powerful shipping and trading nation in the world. When cargo ships came back from the Far East, wealthy ship owners in Amsterdam used fast chasing boats (called “jachts”) to scope out the merchandise. Over time, the yachts became more luxurious to reflect the wealth of their owners. AT LAST | 144′ Heesen 1990

Dutch superyachts age well, kind of like fine wine. AT LAST is an elegant 144-foot Heesen built in 1990. She underwent a jaw-dropping interior refit in 2014 by designer Tui Pranich to make her fit for charter. It paid off because AT LAST was named the number 1 charter boat in 2015 by Boat International as she boasts space, comfort, and luxury. 

This Heesen superyacht can accommodate 11 guests in a 5 cabin layout featuring a full-beam master stateroom and four lower staterooms. But you’ll find us on the clutter-free sundeck relaxing in the Jacuzzi or on the full-beam sunpad. AT LAST passed the ABS Classification Survey in 2019, which means she’s ready to hit the water with a new owner.

CHESELLA | 124′ Amels 1983

Amels began in 1918 as a boat-building business in northern Holland. In 1991, the Damen family acquired Amels and let them retain their name. Amels moved its yacht-building operations to Vlissingen in 2003 and has since established the largest superyacht facility in the Netherlands. 

CHESELLA is a 124-foot Amels 1983 featuring naval architecture from Diana Naval Architects. She boasts a beautifully designed exterior with a shallow draft for close beach access. Since her refit in 2017/2018, the tenders moved to the bow providing room for alfresco dining, sunbathing, and lounging on the upper deck. 

Inside, the refit remained true to her origins while adding an update to her furnishings such as warm wooden paneling, crisp blue and white furnishings, and white tones in the fixtures and fittings. This classic Dutch superyacht is an example of world-class craftsmanship that can withstand the test of time. 

Standout feature: Over her four decks, this superyacht offers a variety of outdoor spaces — the sun deck features a jacuzzi, outdoor bar, and a large cushioned lounge area to aft.

PATRIOT | 87′ Feadship 1984

On average, Feadship produces 5 megayachts a year and is the global leader in the construction of premium quality displacement yachts. With over 250 Feadship yachts gracing the world’s oceans, PATRIOT is a unicorn. She’s a one-of-a-kind (we don’t use that term lightly) 87-foot Feadship built in 1984.

When this project was presented to the Dutch shipbuilder in the early 1980s, they were hesitant to occupy an entire shed to construct a boat on the smaller side of their capabilities. So they agreed to build two of these bad boys.

PATRIOT is made entirely out of aluminum with a 3-cabin layout, accommodating up to 7 overnight guests. She underwent a $10 million refit from 2005-2007 that upgraded every inch of the boat including carpentry, electrical systems, and engines. This set her up for a long future on the water.

Standout feature: A white superstructure that contrasts a navy blue hull above the waterline. When the boat is running and on a plane, you can peep of the gold stripe and red hull below.

PELAGIAL | 71′ Hakvoort 1990

The original Hakvoort Shipyard (say that 5 times fast) began in 1919 in a small town called Monnickendam. The Dutch shipyard began building fishing boats, then moved into yacht building after an increased demand for pleasure sailing. In 2020, Hakvoort changed its name to the Royal Hakvoort Shipyard, a designation granted to companies that have been active in the same family for 100 years or more.

PELAGIAL is a 71-foot Hakvoort built in 1990. She’s a long-range transoceanic yacht built in the Dutch tradition with a steel hull coupled by a common joint weld bond to the aluminum superstructure. In 1996, the yacht was returned to the Hakvoort Yard for a major refit, including lengthening the structure 8 feet amidships and improving many systems. The current owner purchased her in 2015 and has made extensive upgrades such as full repaint of the hull, rebuild of the Cummins N85M engines, and adding Naiad stabilizers.

Standout feature: A range of 3,000 nautical miles is extremely impressive considering she’s a 70-foot yacht.

ALVARO | 66′ Van der Valk Beachclub

Van der Valk Yachts is a Dutch shipyard founded in 1968 and specializes in the construction of semi-custom aluminum motor yachts. The BEACHCLUB series is a revolutionary design by Cor D. Rover executed with Dutch quality by the Van der Valk shipyard.

ALVARO is a 67-foot motor yacht with a large beam of 18 feet and liberal use of glass, creating a vast interior volume that gives the impression of a much larger yacht. The lower salon and galley are deemed the “beachclub” blanketed by natural light with windows across the hull and glass aft doors. Above, there’s a second salon fitted with a dining area.
