Renowned naval architect & Oceanco co-founder, Richard Hein has partnered with Denison to exclusively distribute two concept yacht projects. The designs include one 70-meter explorer yacht and one 60-meter sport yacht that are available as new construction projects with Denison.
Richard’s relationship with the Denisons goes back to the 1980s when he worked with Frank and Gertrude Denison at Broward Marine. He designed boats with their team and continued his career in the yachting industry by founding Oceanco in 1987.
Today, Richard is a Monaco-based yacht designer and founder of The A Group, a close-knit group of designers and architects who push the boundaries of craftsmanship and innovation. Past award-winning projects include I DYNASTY a 101-meter Kusch Yachts and LADY S a 93-meter Feadship.
“Ken Denison and I met in the mid 1980’s, and he gave me the opportunity to work at Broward Marine as a designer. I had the privilege of working with Frank and Gertrude Denison and discovered the world of superyachts at the highest level,” commented Richard Hein. “Because of our history, I feel very close to the Denison family; and after meeting with Bob during the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show, I sincerely wish to continue working closely with this experienced and innovative brokerage group. I’m excited to explore new design and construction opportunities together, as I did with Ken 35 years ago.”
The 70-meter concept yacht, called Project A590, is intended for exploring remote areas of the world with a 5,000+ nautical mile range. It’s designed with adventure and leisure amenities in mind, including a helipad, tender and submarine garage, beach club, cinema, spa/gym, pool, and private owner’s deck.
An enclosed panoramic lounge aft elevates the yacht’s purpose for navigating oceans in comfort and style. Project A590 supports luxury accommodation for up to 14 guests across 6 staterooms, with additional accommodation for up to 16 crew.
The 60-meter concept yacht is called Project A570. The designs reveal a sleek exterior inspired by the look of Bugatti sports cars. Project A570 includes areas for a pool, gym, beach club, tender garage, 5 staterooms, and sunbathing deck on the bow. A full-height salon with sliding floor-to-ceiling windows and a retractable roof is an excellent example of The A Group’s creative ingenuity.
“We chose these two designs as they are somewhat out-of-the-box and meet the current demand for size and new construction opportunities to the market,” commented Richard.
Ken Denison is the point of contact for starting a conversation about these new build projects with Denison. These concept designs are not assigned to a shipyard but can be taken to a yard that builds custom yachts — a process that was more common a few years ago.
With the opening of Denison’s European office — and the family’s long-standing relationship with Richard Hein — Denison is excited to offer this new build opportunity with a leading and award-winning yacht designer and yard owner.
