USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD 28) Naval Ship Commissioning Sponsored by Denison Yachting

Sarah Nadler | July 25, 2022

Denison is proud to sponsor the commissioning of USS Fort Lauderdale—a 684-foot-long naval ship (LPD 28) that has arrived at Port Everglades today for a week of events leading up to her commissioning ceremony on Saturday, July 30. The invite-only event this Saturday morning–in the city for which she will be named–will mark the ship’s official start of active service in the United States Navy.

Weighing in at over 7,000 tons, the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship cost almost $2 billion to build, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Her home base will be Norfolk, Virginia, in due course.
