Day 1 of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show began at 12pm and it took off with a bang. The weather was hot, sunny, and stayed at a steady 85 degrees, making it the perfect day for a boat show. Throughout the event, COVID-19 safety protocols were enforced by Informa Markets — all attendees are temperature checked before entering through contactless check-in and safety ambassadors patrol the docks to ensure everyone is wearing a mask.
Spirits were high and excited for day 1 as it’s the first big event in Fort Lauderdale since March. We asked Denson yacht broker Patrick Hopkins what he thought about the first day of FLIBS 2020.
“I’m shocked about the number of people who came to opening day of the boat show. I’ve seen incredible energy and qualified clientele on the docks since the gates opened until closing. It really blew me away,” said Hopkins.
A lap around the boat show will take you past impressive superyachts, boating merchandise, luxury car displays, and food stalls. When asked for a tip about where to eat at FLIBS, Hopkins gave a suggestion to check out one of the top 5 restaurants near FLIBS.
“After the show, head Coconuts and order the scooby snacks (mini crab claws sautéed in garlic butter) — they’re well worth the wait,” said Hopkins.
Denison’s booth is located on H Dock with 18 boats on display. SERENITY, a 133′ IAG 2016, stole the show with her 6 stateroom design and layout. Even NBC Sports Network stopped by for an interview with Denison yacht broker Kurt Bosshardt on the flybridge, which includes a waterfall jacuzzi and wading pool with backlit skylights).
