The Beneteau Grand Trawler 62 Launches In 2021

Marina Nazario | February 1, 2021

Beneteau enjoyed plenty of success with the Swift Trawler range. We know the ST 47 is the perfect family boat and can cruise to the Bahamas and back on one tank of fuel. The ST 44 demonstrates excellent displacement in rough sea. And the ST 41 features a distinguishing aft galley. So what’s next?

The Grand Trawler, a 62-foot long-distance cruiser. Her stand out feature is a distinct displacement hull developed by Micad, aiming to improve cruising range and efficiency. The new Grand Trawler is scheduled to make its United States debut in Fall 2021. Here’s a quick preview of the new Beneteau model.

Exterior Features

The Grand Trawler is comfortable and seaworthy, with a cruising range of 900 nautical miles and a centrally raised helm station. She’s called “grand” rather than “swift” because the Grand Trawler 62 does not have the capability to cruise at 16-18 knots like the Swift Trawlers. The distinct displacement hull on this model is optimized for slow, long-range efficiency at 9 knots, with reserve power to reach 20 knots when required.

Enjoy the open air with a large cockpit and a transom that opens to the sea, creating a seamless space between the deck lounge and the 30 square foot swim platform. Another specific feature of the Grand Trawler 62 is immediate access from the stern deck into the lazarette, which can be configured with shower space and head— convenient if you love spending time in the water.

Other key exterior features of the Grand Trawler 62 are the large flybridge, extensive swim platform, L-shaped wet bar, and wide side decks. She’s ideal for slow, leisure cruises.

Interior Features

The interior is nothing short of grand. The galley is directly opposite the dining area and opens into the salon — unlike the Swift Trawlers, it can be closed off with a sliding door (optional).

The Grand Trawler 62 has a raised central helm station with all the equipment you might find in a large yacht pilothouse. The reverse section windshield offers panoramic views that can be shared from a comfortable port side bench seat, while over to starboard, there is a sliding side door. An internal stairway from the helm station leads to the flybridge for easy movement while underway.

The Grand Trawler 62 is available in two versions — 3 or 4 cabins to accommodate 6 to 8 guests. The owner suite is midship in the three-cabin layout, making good use of the maximum beam. With the four-cabin layout, the forward guest cabin becomes the owner’s cabin. To increase the feeling of space and comfort, there is an average headroom of 6.5 feet in each cabin.

The flexibility of the accommodation areas, designed for spending extended time onboard, ensures everyone is comfortable. The interior is strikingly spacious, neat, and well-appointed, with volumes similar to much bigger yachts. This new Beneteau model can house a crew of 2 if needed.

Following the Swift Trawler line’s success, Beneteau takes quality and adventure a step further with the Grand Trawler 62 to fulfill long-distance cruising dreams. This new model is slow, comfortable, and inviting and is scheduled to debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in 2021.
