Newport Boat Show Hosting State of the Yachting Industry Address

National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) president Thom Dammrich is scheduled to speak on September 12 at the opening-day press conference of the Newport (R.I.) International Boat Show.

The annual state-of-the yachting industry press event will be held from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. in the Sunset Terrace on the show grounds and will be open to show attendees.

Sail Newport executive director Brad Read will provide an update on the Newport stopover of the 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race. The press conference will conclude with remarks by Newport Mayor Harry Winthrop.

Expected to draw tens of thousands of people, the show will be held Sept. 12-15 on the Newport waterfront along America’s Cup Avenue. One of the largest in-water boat shows in the country, the event will host nearly 750 exhibitors from around the world with an assortment of boats of every type and style from 15 to 85 feet and accessories, equipment, electronics, gear and services for boaters.
