Yachting legend Carlo Riva, has passed away in his hometown of Sarnico, Italy, according to Yachting Magazine. He was 95.
“The world has lost a brilliant creator of boats, a master of style, a giant in Italy’s industrial and business history,” Ferretti CEO Alberto Galassi told Yachting.
Carlo Riva is famous for leading the Riva brand into a golden age, Yachting reported. He was responsible for launching such classic models as the Riva Tritone, Riva Florida and Riva Sebino.
His name will perhaps always be most closely associated with the Riva Aquarama, which launched in 1962, and would become one of the most iconic boats of all time — a vessel for kings and movie stars.
