IGY Marinas today announced that it has expanded its presence in Latin America with the addition of Golfito Marina Village – Costa Rica. “IGY Marinas has seen travelers become more selective in their yachting itineraries to Central America, making Golfito Marina Village a welcome addition to our portfolio,” said Tom Mukamal, CEO of IGY Marinas. “Our network of clientele has come to know and appreciate our award-winning customer service, desired amenities, and internationally trained staff that is well-versed in many foreign policies. We look forward to welcoming our guests to our newest destination in Costa Rica.”

IGY has already initiated the integration process, working closely with the Golfito Marina Village team to implement the company’s operations and award-winning services. Additionally, IGY will raise the maritime profile of the facility through its extensive network of commercial and industry partners, special events, and community outreach initiatives under the company’s philanthropic arm – Inspire Giving through You.

IGY Marinas Gives Back

The luxurious Golfito Marina Village is the perfect addition to IGY Marinas’ impressive collection throughout Latin America. The facility is situated on the Pacific Ocean and outside of the hurricane zone, making it a safe harbor for guests. It is also the only approved drop-off and pick-up zone for yacht transport ships on the west coast of Central and South America.

Golfito Marina Village operates as one of the only private, natural deep-water marinas in the world that can accommodate vessels up to 500 feet (152 meters), and visitors arriving by sea will experience a controlled depth of 35 feet (10 meters), zero air draft restrictions, and high-quality shore power custom designed for the world’s largest vessels. Additionally, the marina boasts a dedicated 265-foot (80 meter) fuel dock capable of dispensing ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel at 200 GPM, as well as premium fuel.

The facility’s eco-friendly design maximizes the preservation of its surrounding natural setting – one marked by unobstructed bay views along with government-protected rainforests and beaches. Located in the historic Pacific Town of Golfito, the marina is the ideal destination for guests looking to fully immerse themselves in Costa Rica’s “Pura Vida” lifestyle, with world-class sportfishing, whale watching, canopy tours, hiking, beachside horseback riding, paddle boarding, windsurfing, shopping and more.

Marina guests will have access to the world’s leading large vessel support network, the IGY Anchor Club Strategic Partners, including Denison, who offer an array of services including, provisioning, crew training, full range insurance, emergency health services, maritime travel, satellite communications, and more. Additionally, Golfito Marina Village has partnered with one of the world’s leading yacht transport companies to provide high-quality and reliable yacht transportation services.

Overseeing all marina management and operations will be Andy Caballero, the facility’s newly appointed general manager. Caballero joined the IGY team in 2006 and has overseen many aspects of operations in various facilities throughout the years.

Future plans for the marina include an expansion to approximately 135 slips and a full-service yard. The dynamic, 40-acre yachting complex sits adjacent to a marina village with approximately 25 retailers; an eco-friendly, luxury hotel slated to open within the next 24 months; exclusive villa residences with four private island homes; an open-air spa; and four diverse restaurant concepts. Construction on the restaurants and shops is complete and tenants are in the process of moving in. The marina’s beach bar also is scheduled to open in December.
