The German company Abeking & Rasmussen was founded in 1907 by Henry Rasmussen and George Abeking. With proven experience on the ocean, Rasmussen was able to translate his skills into yacht design. The company began building wooden sailing and motor yachts and would also build more specialized vessels on the side. Through time, Abeking & Rasmussen has developed a reputation for the use of lightweight materials in their hull construction.

A few notable developments include the use of the advanced SWATH construction. Small Waterplane Twin-Hull has been successfully implemented into many new builds. Most notably for the 40.5 meter SWATH Expedition Yacht Silver Cloud. Abeking & Rasmussen mostly builds more conventional vessels but utilizes more advanced materials into the mix.
