The rock bound coast and soaring granite cliffs offers a great backdrop to the tree and stone lined streets leading to the town. Surrounded by the Acadia National Park, you will be able to enjoy the spectacular beauty, adventure, and luster of this natural wonderment. There are many activities worth partaking while visiting Bar Harbor. Did I mention that Bar Harbor is home to the USA’s eighth oldest golf course with views of both mountains and the shore? You can also take whale, seal and seabird watching tours. There is a little something for everyone in beautiful Bar Harbor.
Day 1: Board the yacht in Newport, Rhode Island. Newport has been a playground for the rich and famous since the 1880’s and owes much of its architectural heritage to families like the Astor’s and Vanderbilt’s. Take a tour of the grandiose mansions or enjoy a stroll through the town’s many landscaped gardens.
Day 2: 12 miles off the coast of Rhode Island is charming, quiet Block Island. Explore by bike and find miles of pristine beaches, a varied terrain of hills, freshwater ponds, 2,000 miles of stone walls and a unique variety of flora and fauna.
Day 3: Depart for Cuttyhunk and enjoy lunch on the aft deck before hiking to its highest point. Here is a spectacular view of the eastward-running archipelago. To the southeast are the distinguishing cliffs of Martha’s Vineyard. Spend the rest of the day swimming or relax with cocktails as the sun sets.
Day 4: Depart this morning for the chic port of Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard. Meander through the cobblestone streets or stroll the beaches of famous Chappaquiddick Point. Have Lunch ashore at a dockside restaurant for some fresh seafood and then head back to the yacht for some water sport fun.
Day 5: It is a quick cruise to neighboring Nantucket. Once a quiet whaling community, Nantucket is now home to trendy, scene seekers. Outside of the town, however the island’s windblown dunes and moors feel as remote as they must have ages ago. After lunch on board take a tour of the whaling museum and the cranberry bogs.
Day 6: This morning set course for Hyannis which is typically associated with the Kennedy Family and is one of Cape Cod’s earliest summer resorts. That afternoon sail to Hadley Harbor, a deep-water anchorage off of Woods Hole. Located amid pasture and pine at the eastern end of Naushon Island, Hadley’s Harbor is a magical setting that reminiscent of times past, where cars are forbidden and the only means of transport are by foot, boat and horseback.
Day 7: After breakfast, it’s time to return to Newport to shop, dine, and unwind. Enjoy the final evening on board with a fabulous Dinner, discussing all of the highlights of the previous week.
