In 1938, Peter and Nicholas Stamas built a 22-foot wooden Cruiser, which won First Prize at the Florida State Fair. The Stamas brothers began building commercial and deep sea charter fishing boats. They founded Stamas Yacht in 1952 in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
A leader in innovation, Stamas pioneered the use of fiberglass in boat construction in the 1950’s. By 1959, Stamas switched completely from wood to fiberglass construction. Other Stamas innovations that have become industry standards include: self-bailing cockpits, foam flotation, and livewells.
Attention to detail is the hallmark of Stamas Yacht. All decks are reinforced with the Stamas Continuous Core Reinforcing process, which bonds a seamless, fiberglass sealed core to every area of the deck’s walking area, plus all horizontal and most vertical surfaces.
Stamas Yacht is one of the oldest, continuously family-owned-and-operated boat companies in the United States. With 60 years of boat building experience and a reputation for solid, quality construction and seaworthiness, Stamas boats are a blend Old World craftsmanship with the latest materials and technology.
