The Italian builder Baia specializes in luxury high-performance yachts up to 31 meters in length. Most models are capable of speeds nearing 50 knots. The Baia Atlantica 80 model is an example of a high-speed vessel that surpassed that number and is able to achieve 80 knots while being 25 meters in length. Baia is able to reach these numbers via ultra-lightweight materials such as full composite hulls coupled with Arneson surface drive propulsion units.

Since Baia's humble beginnings of building small wooden cruisers, larger, more efficient performance yachts have been produced including the B50 from 1990 which won the famous Venice to Montecarlo race.
