Worth Noting: Chaparral Boats was originally Fiberglass Fabricators, a manufacturer of custom fiberglass parts, started by Pegg’s father in 1961.

In 1965, William “Buck” Pegg founded Chaparral Boats, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Chaparral’s first boat was a 15-foot tri-hull design, which sold for less than $1,000.

Chaparral moved its headquarters to Nashville, Georgia in 1976 to obtain a larger manufacturing facility. A decade later, RPC Energy Services purchased Chaparral Boats.

In 2001, Chaparral was spun off from RPC into Marine Products Corporation, and Chaparral’s sister company, Robalo, was established. Together, Chaparral and Robalo have continued to grow their fishing boat building business despite tough economic times.

Over the past five decades, Chaparral has developed a global network of domestic and international boat dealers to sell its diverse line-up of bow riders, performance boats, deck boats, and family fishing boats.
