Worth Noting: Nautical Development went out of business in the early 1990’s.
Nautical Development was a fiberglass sailboat manufacturer founded in the 1970’s and located in Key Largo, Florida from the late 1970’s to the early 1980’s.
The design of Nautical Development sailboats was inspired by a boat designed by Steve Seaton in 1969. Most of Seaton’s ideas were incorporated but with a few minor changes.
Seaton’s first boat, Limmershin, had a tall rig and very high aspect ratio centerboard that let the boat go windward easily. Limmershin was Seaton’s most successful build, racing in the SORC in the early 1970’s.
After modifying Seaton’s Limmershin design, Nautical Development produced the 56 Nautical in approximately 1979. In a little more than a decade, the company built sailboats ranging from 56 to 62 feet with charter and owner layouts.
