Amel Yachts, located in La Rochelle, France, has been building unique yachts since 1968 under the motto of quality, rigor, and care. About Amel Yachts
In 1965, Henri Amel founded Chantiers Amel shipyard in La Rochelle, France. Henri was a French engineer and wartime Resistance fighter who started the company at the age of 50 and worked until he passed away at the age of 90. Amel, a sailing yacht manufacturer, produces blue-water fiberglass ketches, which includes the popular 16 meter series: Meltem, Mango, Super Maramu and Amel 54. Most Amel yachts were designed by Henri himself, who was referred to as “Le capitaine”. The Amel shipyard has produced over 2,000 yachts during its legacy. Always ahead of their times with features like electric furling sails and the first bow thrusters, Amels are acclaimed for being the ultimate standard production yacht. Operating under the motto: quality, rigor, and care, Amel has fulfilled a niche in the cruising sailboat market with a focus on comfort and convenience.
