41' Canoe Cove 1970 Slow Motion

San Diego, CA, US

Previously Asking $58,500

Off Market

Description

Slow Motion is a classic  She's a well-maintained pilot house trawler perfect for a liveaboard or cruising to Catalina. This is one of the more unusual boats Canoe Cove made. Five of them were made in 1970. The current owners have enjoyed her for the last 2 years but have decided to move to the northwest to be closer to their kids and grandchildren.

The accommodations are excellent with two comfortable cabins with tons of storage, 2 heads, separate shower and a very spacious salon and galley midships.  The  interior is bright, comfortable, warm, and in surprisingly good condition. Great visibility from the helm station in the pilothouse. Located behind the helm is a large daybed which can be used as a double berth. Aft of that is a nice enclosed deck to enjoy meals or to entertain outside but with protection from the wind and sun.

The engines start right up. The boat does an impressive 14.5 knots at 2000 rpm's which is unusual for a boat like this. Call now to schedule a showing.

History

The Canoe Cove 41s were manufactured in Vancouver, BC.  Five of them were made in 1970. Slow Motion was a Canadian Police Coastal Patrol demo boat purchased new by a Los Angeles judge.  Work completed by the previous owners includes new dripless shaft seals and the bottom was peeled and painted with an epoxy barrier coat.

According to the Canoe Cove Association (CCA), information is a bit sketchy, but it seems that Canoe Cove Manufacturing (CCM) thought that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) might be interested in this sort of boat so they were built with stronger than normal hulls.  The RCMP was not interested but they liked the hull so CCM sold several 41's in various configurations to them. The name Westporter was picked because they were originally aiming at the California market and they thought Westporter was a name that might attract sales.

The current sellers purchased her in 2019 and have performed an extensive restoration.  They have receipts from the previous owners as well as all of the work they did themselves ($22,000 plus)
