Old Glory Is a Custom Cal 46 that has been featured in publications like Cruising Outpost and Southwinds magazine. She underwent a complete refit in 1999. This included the addition of a Pilothouse, Teardrop Swim Platform, Custom Stainless Steel Lifelines and significant interior upgrades including full redesign of the salon, galley and Master Suite. After the refit was completed Old Glory became a one of a kind Cal 46. This boat is the cleanest most comfortable yacht you will find in this price range- Insurance comps put her replacement value of over 500K.This boat has only had 3 owners in her life and her history is well known. She has only been in the FL area for the last couple of years and had spent most of her life in San Diego. Since the refit the owners maintained and upgraded Old Glory to keep her in excellent condition. The extensive work on her has all been professionally done by reputable yards and mechanics and she is in tip top shape.

Exterior

Old Glory was originally a ketch rig and has been converted to a sloop.  The boom was originally 17.5 feet and has been extended to 19 feet to increase the size of the main sail.

Cals are hand laid of solid fiberglass using cloth and woven roving. The hull was manufactured for maximum impact strength.

The standing rigging was completely replaced in 2011.

Starting aft you will notice the extra robust davit system that is easy to get to due to the unique sugar sweep transom that was added. Also at the rear of the boat is the huge deep locker that great for storage.  Added last year was a Garhauer Lifting davit engine hoist system so you can easily drop an outboard engine in the locker for passages.

There are two teak beautiful catbird seats to perch on and watch the waves go by.

There is additional teak seating and storage in the area around the winches that control the jib. The teak tops are actually custom made from the decks of the ship the US North Carolina.
The custom stainless steel lifeline wrap around the entire boat and the decks are narrow on the sides and really help with finding easy handholds and safety in rough waters.

Old Glory has an inmast roller furling main sail.  All lines run aft to the cockpit so you can manage the sails from the comfort of the pilothouse.

The spade rudder gives the boat better control in tight spaces and has been upgraded with a bow thruster.

At the bow you will find a fresh water wash that really comes in handy to clean off that anchor chain or to take a nice shower on a hot day.
There are 6 large dorades to help circulate air in the boats and they all have stainless steel covers if you would like to remove them for any reason like a rough passage.

The toe rails are solid teak and have recently been taken down to bare wood so the new owner can decide how they would like them treated.

The shore power has been upgraded to two 30 amp receptacles and a 50 amp splitter is used to connect to shore power.

Old Glory has a full encapsulated keel and is very easy to handle under power and docking especially with the help of the bow thruster.  She sails wonderfully and cuts right through the water with her 12 foot beam.

Her mast is 55 feet and with a draft of only 5 feet she able to go just about anywhere.  The ICW and the shallow waters of the Bahamas are not an issue for you.  She is ready to go when you are.

Interior / Pilot House

The pilothouse is not only very comfortable when at the dock as extra living and entertaining space – it is completely functional and keeps you dry in the wettest weather, warm in the coldest weather and safe in storms.

Entering the boat through the companionway the salon area is on the port side of the vessel.  The seating is very comfortable with overstuffed leather cushions on either side of the height adjustable dining room table. Under the benches is ample storage, openings in the solid teak floors for access to fuel gauges and sliding doors the length of the salon with storage about 18 inches deep and 6 feet long. The storage on this boat is incredible.

The interior joinery work is Burmese Teak and the floors are a gorgeous 1.5 inch teak and holly.

There is a center beautifully done storage station around the mast including shelves with doors. The area behind the seating has book shelves with additional storage closets.

The galley is on the starboard side of the ship and there is a large amount of counter space.  The sinks are deep and all of the drawers and cabinets have custom cutouts for dishes and have been treated with algrip and are sparkling clean. There is a wine rack built in under the stove area.

The extremely roomy refrigerator has a top and front load access points and the top is made of a beautiful cutters block wood.

All of the windows in the pilot house and in the salon have custom covers that are accessible from the inside of the vessel.

Going forward is the guest suite which includes a king size V-berth, closets, the anchor locker access and a private head.
Heading back through the salon to go aft you will enter the hallway that has an area for storage, a full length hanging wet locker, counter space for navigating equipment and the full size door to the engine room.

The engine room is simply amazing- no more doing contortions to work on your engine, water heater, generator or changing your oil.  This engine room is a full size room with loads of drawers for extra parts and tools and a workbench!  A sailor’s Man Cave for sure- and the engine is not only runs great but looks great with its chromed heads.  The engine is a Perkins 4-236 diesel and is an excellent engine. The engine room also has a Aquaalarm system to warn you of Overheating and Low oil pressure.

Exiting the engine room and heading aft you will find the Master suite that has completely been reconfigured from the original Cal and now you have a full office space with extra large desk that you can sit at to write the exciting blogs of all of your adventures.  The bed is a full that has drawers underneath and an access panel to the holding tank.

There are mirrors with full storage behind them on the back wall and a panel to access the steering quadrant and auto pilot ram.
The head is a dream with a full closed in shower, a beautiful vessel sink and a vacuflush head. As with most of the interior that isn’t wood the walls are all white algrip so it is super bright and clean.

Old Glory has the interior space to stow all of the goodies that make long-term living aboard comfortable. Cal’s have a proven record of successful blue water voyages and the custom layout makes this one of the most sought after older boats out there.
