"Curiosity" is a 2-cabin, 2-head version of the Beneteau 49, with numerous upgrades, putting her in a class of her own. A full-beam master aft allows for ample room for the cruising couple. There is also an additional spacious stateroom forward.
The Beneteau 49 was the first of the 'new generation' of Beneteau's that carried the beam all the way to the stern, creating a spacious interior and an enormous cockpit. Wonderful for a family or a large crew. The large, fixed windows in the coachroof and the hull-sides, were designed to allow ample light down below including numerous hatches and opening ports providing good ventilation.
The flat bottom, wide beam gave this generation of boats phenomenal sailing characteristics in that they sail fast, but flat. Heeling too much? Reduce sail, straighten up a bit, and keep moving, faster than before. It's a comfortable ride and the boat's length and weight allow her to ride the swell with minimal movement.
The companionway stairs are a comfortable 45 degrees with handrails for safety. Below the stairs is a counter and to port is the double sink in a stand-alone cabinet. The galley is large and well-appointed with a separate fridge and freezer, 3-burner propane stove & microwave.
Access to the aft, the port cabin is through the galley. It has a queen bunk and extra, custom storage along the side of the hull. To starboard is the second aft cabin, also with queen bunk. The aft head is to starboard, with access from the salon and aft cabin. It has a separate shower stall.
The forward-facing chart table is on the starboard side, with a dedicated seat and storage below. Instruments and electrical panels are easy to handle. Short settee forward of the chart table. Dinette with C-shaped settee to port. The table can pivot and fold out to form a large dining table and be lowered to form a double berth. There are 2 stools that can serve as mobile seating and double as storage.
The master cabin is in the bow, with a queen-bunk that can be accessed from each side. Vanity with moveable stool and storage to starboard, storage to port, and under the bunk. The forward head has an electric toilet, basin, and shower with a tubular perspex door that can be pulled around to separate the shower from the rest of the cubicle, or tucked away to create more space.
