Accommodations

M/V “FOLLOWING SEA” While walking down the gangway this Bertram 56 will grab your attention similar to uncovering a gem, finding a lost treasure, and or discovering the perfect yacht. Very few vessels exude pride of ownership more than this vintage Bertram 56.

During Following Sea refit every wire, hose, hardware, mechanical, generator, electrical, and canvas products have been replaced with new. The list is long and can be seen on the “specifications sheet”. Most recently replacing the engines with brand new Twin CAT C7.1 507hp Common Rail and of course a very extensive engine room upgrade. New stringers, through-hulls, hoses, steering, rudders, pumps, fuel lines and fittings, and a full epoxy fiberglass job finished in white Awlgrip white paint.

As you approach the boat the gleam of the finished wood trim around the bow sprint and down the length of the vessel will stop you in admiration. Next noticing the array of different antennas on top of the flybridge hardtop will ping your curiosity about what lies below. Stepping onboard Following Sea after deck one must picture themselves at their favorite anchorage lounging under the canopy with their favorite cold beverage in hand. Looking down into the huge cockpit there are two sun lounges and more than enough space for fishing, diving, or bringing aboard any of your water toys. Just forward of the aft deck is the flybridge where one can lose their berth in admiration and passion for this boat owner’s attention to detail. A large L-shaped settee is to starboard with a custom table that can be lowered and made into a berth. Forward is a stainless steel ladder that allows you access to the top of the hardtop. The flybridge is enclosed with one-year-old polycarbonate windows and a custom aluminum framed glass center window. Two Llebroc helm chairs invite you into the instrumentation panel and operation of the vessel. While viewing this yacht be sure to inspect the electronics electrical installation. I have never seen such perfection.

From the aft deck and down a couple of steps you will enter the salon and galley. The view along with the four opening windows insured the simplicity of use and ventilation thought out the salon and galley. The list of features in the specification sheet is endless and must be viewed to truly appreciate it. Next forward and down three steps is the guest stateroom that features two large double berths, with a custom layered mattress, along with an abundance of storage, four portlights, and two overhead hatches to ensure ventilation. Next forward is the forward head and a shower before entering the focsle. Aft of the salon is the master stateroom that features two huge double berths with custom foam mattresses, four opening portlights, a head, and a shower. Continuing aft and up three steps is access to the cockpit.

Everything on this vessel is in order and ready for your personal inspection. A specification sheet will be provided, while viewing, to ensure that no detail is missed. We have also saved several, ease of operating features, that will surprise the best yachtsman. I look forward to and will take great pride in showing you this outstanding vessel.

Hull

Deep-V was designed by Ray Hunt.

To promote the lightness so essential to high-speed performance, the hull is built of cold molded plywood. The skin is in three layers of five-ply 3/8-inch plywood, the two inner layers diagonal and the outer one fore and aft. In addition, there is a 1⁄2 inch sheet running down the centerline. The planking is continuous across the bottom, and there are no frames in the usual sense; the boat is built on longitudinal stringers and athwartship bulkheads.
