One of a kind legendary Ted Hood design. Rare Up Station w/Full Controls
Very well maintained by an experienced owner, continuously updated she shows extremely well.
The owner is motivated and ready to move on, this is a great opportunity to move up to a Little Harbor.
Re-powered with Yanmar 6LY3-STP 440-hp diesels in 2009-2010 winter
This WhisperJet 38 hull is an exceptional late-model example of this venerable class of waterjet-powered express cruisers designed by Ted Hood of Little Harbor Marine with the added benefit of being built by The Hinckley Company. The WhisperJet 38 has proven to be an iconic design known for its great looks, dry ride, best-in-class sightlines from the bridge deck and helm, a roomy cockpit with full-beam transom seating and downright amazing interior. A connoisseur's version with refined hardtop and solid teak windshield - Awlgrip painted on the outside and varnished on the inside - and a helm without peer. And of course, with waterjet propulsion the draft is only 20 inches for true shallow water capability with no worry of obstructions like lobster traps in Maine or logs on the Connecticut River. A versatile and agile performer as a day boat with fast cruising speeds approaching 30 knots + , she boasts a dynamite interior as well with ample V-berth double, convertible dinette, galley and roomy enclosed ensuite head and shower.

The Little Harbor WhisperJet 38 is one of a series that features a modern deep-V hull form designed specifically for jet drives. Each boat has an innovative twin chine configuration that minimizes waterline beam for performance and fuel economy and maximizes interior volume for accommodations. In addition, the twin chine eliminates annoying "wave slap" common to many boats while at rest. Dead rise angle is 17 degrees at the transom. Each model has a classic hull profile with an aggressive bow overhang and low-profile deck configuration. All models are available as an express cruiser with an open mid-deck area protected by a removable soft top. A focal point of all models is the large and comfortable cockpit salon featuring an L-shaped settee with casual seating for four and optional deck chairs that can be arranged to accommodate six for dining. The helm area has been designed to position all instruments and controls at their optimal location in relation to the helmsman. Electronics enclosures have been sized to handle the larger and more sophisticated computer based charting systems that are fast becoming the backbone of modern power boat navigation. A work area is located across from the helm so traditional charts can be used and space has been provided for electronics repeaters of key navigational data. The interior accommodations are both straightforward and commodious. The owner's stateroom forward includes a large U-berth (as opposed to the typical narrow V-berth) with two 36-inch wide berths that can be converted into a double with a filler piece. There is a large hanging locker and numerous drawers and storage lockers. A private owner's head and shower is located on one side. Further aft, the layouts feature a large galley to port with cold-plate refrigerator and freezer, propane stove and abundant storage lockers. Depending on the overall length, several alternate plans are available with additional staterooms, heads and a U-shaped dinette. Owners may also specify a "galley-up" interior layout to retain more interior accommodations as shown on some of the layout plans. The elegant yet functional interior features solid American Cherry trim. The overhead panels are covered with padded fabric and are completely removable. Main bulkhead surfaces are Formica, drawers are solid cherry, and locker doors are Formica with cherry trim. Doors and drawers feature Kroon flush positive-lock latches and roller bearing drawer slides. Cabin soles are varnished teak and holly. As an option, owners may specify cherry throughout the interior. The main engines are surrounded by a carefully engineered, soundproofed compartment, making the raised salon a comfortable, quiet place while underway, even at high speeds. The water jet system is located well aft for easy access via hatches through the aft deck. The water jet configuration eliminates the need for external shafts, props, and rudders, thereby removing a substantial amount of running vibration and allowing one to virtually run right over floating hazards - such as trap buoys - without fouling. The resulting shallow draft also allows one to safely gunkhole shallow waters off-limits to most boats of this size. As a final benefit, the water jet provides superior maneuverability in tight quarters utilizing twin jet configurations. The hull and deck are built of molded fiberglass using Vinylester resin and foam core. The hull lamination is further reinforced with a Kevlar hybrid to increase collision strength and add stiffness. All fuel tanks are welded aluminum. Structural bulkheads are cored fiberglass bonded to hull and deck. All deck hardware is polished stainless steel. The deck and hull joint features a low maintenance molded rail with optional teak cap that can be varnished or oiled. Decks and cabin tops can be finished with contrasting non-skid. A molded rubrail with stainless striker is provided.
