Key Features
Design and Construction
The Hallberg-Rassy 40 features a hand-laid GRP hull with Divinycell PVC-foam insulation, offering excellent thermal insulation and noise reduction. The hull incorporates a lead keel reinforced with stainless steel bolts for optimal stability and performance. The deck, coachroof, and cockpit areas are constructed using sandwich laminate with solid teak laid in silicon rubber, ensuring both durability and aesthetic appeal. Stainless steel strips protect the rubbing strake, mooring, and spring cleats, enhancing durability and style.
Cockpit and Deck Layout
The spacious cockpit is designed for comfort and functionality, featuring high-gloss varnished folding teak tables, both in the cockpit and at the navigation station. The helm station includes a leather-covered steering wheel, comprehensive navigation instruments, and an extension to the sprayhood for enhanced weather protection. Four padeye fittings in the cockpit provide secure attachment points for harnesses, enhancing safety during rough conditions. Entry gates on both port and starboard sides offer easy access to the deck. A bow ladder and additional bow roller facilitate anchoring and boarding.
Deck fittings include Lewmar self-tailing winches, with electric winches (Lewmar 40 CEST) for the outhaul and mainsheet and electric genoa winches (Lewmar 50 CEST) for easier sail handling. An integrated bathing platform and a fresh water shower on the transom enhance comfort at sea. The boat is equipped with a powerful 6 HP bow thruster for precise maneuvering in tight spaces, while the Flexofold propeller ensures efficient propulsion, with a fixed propeller kept as a spare.
Interior Accommodations
The interior of this Hallberg-Rassy 40 is finished in light mahogany with a matt silk finish, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The saloon features Alcantara upholstery in Bohemian Blue with Ivory piping, a foldable dining table with a built-in bar, and Leecloths for added safety while sleeping underway. Tan marine-grade carpet was installed new, enhancing the luxurious feel of the interior. The original layout includes a large linear galley and a head at the entrance, offering practical space for living and working.
The aft cabin provides a separate double berth and a single berth with a seat between them, and the forward cabin has two 6’ 9” berths. All sleeping areas are fitted with Leecloths, including the saloon, to ensure comfort during passages. The galley is well-equipped with a refrigerator/freezer, a two-burner gas cooker with oven, and a deck wash pump (Flojet 13 L/min) for convenient maintenance. A hot water tank was replaced in 2015, ensuring reliable hot water availability.
