Introduction: Willard Marine, Inc. is a global leader in manufacturing mission-proven vessels. They build to the specifications of international law enforcement, military, commercial, and exploratory mariners. The 40-foot long-range trawler was conceived in 1973, and the model was named Vega 40. The new Willard 40 was introduced in 1977 and was built until 2003. ADRIA was the last W40FS ‘flybridge sedan’ constructed. Two additional boats, both pilothouse models, were also built.

The keel of ADRIA was laid in 1999. Upon commissioning, it was named DOXY. The next owner changed its name to ADRIA, which remained with the boat through the three subsequent owners. The commissioning took place at Zimmerman Marine in Virginia in 2000. It cruised the East Coast of the U.S. until 2015, when it voyaged to the North Channel on Lake Huron. In 2022, it returned to cruising the East Coast of the U.S. Four experienced yachtsmen have cruised, upgraded, and maintained ADRIA to a high standard. She is currently in winter storage in a heated shed, being prepared for the 2025 boating season.
