The new Contest 50CS continues the successful evolution of the Contest range where over the years there has been an increasing emphasis on performance whilst retaining the comfortable seakeeping ability and strength for which the builders are renowned. Designed by Georg Nissen her clean lines, simple rig with ample sail area and careful weight saving make the 50CS an extremely easy yacht for a couple to handle while guaranteeing high average speeds on long passages. On board cruising comfort is never compromised in a Contest and the new 50CS is no exception. Building on the experience of many owners, the interior of the 50CS offers real comfort and security for the owner and four guests in a pleasing environment. Many hours of planning have been invested to ensure that the multitude of equipment demanded by todays yachtsmen can be installed to the highest standards, thus ensuring dependability, enjoyable long term cruising and good resale value.
Additional Description

Teak interior made of the best materials; solid pelmet and trimmings in teak. Interior according to drawing. The interior is mat varnished, the woodwork in the showerstalls is high gloss varnished. Showerstalls in formica with teak trims. Teak doors 30 mm with brass fittings and anti-rattle door locks. All drawers on roller bearing tracks. CORIAN colour “Vanilla” worktop in galley with 2 stainless 316 sinks, CORIAN covers over sinks and CORIAN cover over cooker. CORIAN colour “Linen” tops in each head with moulded CORIAN washbasins. Colour upholstery to choice. (Class A = standard) Colour curtains for saloonwindows and portholes are to choice. All bunks have leecloths.

12V system on board with one gel starter battery (850A cold start capacity) and two 100 Ah semi-maintenance free service batteries (capacity 12V/200Ah). Main switch panel with automatic circuit breakers and a 12V powerpoint, a battery monitor with acoustic alarm and an optical navigation light control unit. 12V plug on repeater screen in cockpit. Navigation lights consisting of separate starboard-, port- and stern lights on pulpit and pushpit, masthead light including anchorlight and decklight in mast. Indirect entrance light. Thirtytwo halogen brass ceiling lights with switches, eight brass halogen reading lights with switches. Indirect galley worktop lighting. Red ceiling light over charttable. Light in engine room with doorswitch. 220V Shore power with 25 m long cable with CE-plug and security differential cut-off switch and two 220V sockets in galley.

YANMAR 4JH3 HTE 74 kW (100 hp) 3800 rpm 4 cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine with indirect cooling. KM4A mechanical gearbox with 2.63:1 reduction, electric start . 12V/80A alternator. Single lever gearthrottle control on steering pedestal. Engine panel fitted in cockpit including rev. counter, oil pressure- temperature- and charge alarm, start and stop buttons and fuel gauge. Stainless steel 316 diesel tank capacity 700 litres, equipped with SEPAR diesel filter/separator including acoustic and visual “water in fuel”-alarm. Watercooled exhaust with double waterlock. Stainless steel (duplex) water lubricated propeller shaft including homogenized coupling, thrust bearing, stern gland and 3-bladed fixed propellor in bronze. Engineroom insulated with combined drone- and soundabsorbing insulation. Engineroom-ventilation by electric ventilator and via double natural ventilation grills.

Finish: white gelcoat. Painted stripe and double waterline (colour to choice), antifouling. GRP construction: laminated transverse and longitudinal reinforcement, engine-foundation and laminated bulkheads. The laminate is constructed of GRP resin, chopped strand mat (CSM) and woven roving (WR) with an extra anti-osmosis layer of resin and an insulated end grain balsawood sandwich. Keel: Lead / cast iron deep finkeel with bilge sump. Rudder: GRP rudderblade with aluminium rudder shaft.
Deck Fittings & Equipment

Finish: White gelcoat. GRP construction: deck with laminated foam profiles. The laminate is constructed of GRP resin, chopped strand mat (CSM) and woven roving (WR) with end grain balsa wood; solid GRP laminate in way of all deckfittings. Deck-hull construction: completely filled, fixed by means of bolts and the laminated deck-hull construction. Selfbailing cockpit. Cockpitlocker on starboard.
Mast Equipment

Silver anodized SeldÉn three spreader mast including boom with single line reefing system. Stainless steel 316 standing rigging; fore- and back stays 12 mm, caps and lowers 10 mm. Spinnakerboom track on mast. Inmast and lead under deck to cockpit 12mm pre-streched 12 mm main- and genoa halyards, kickingstrap and topping lift.
Anchor & Mooring Equipment

S/L electric anchor winch (1350 kg traction power), including up and down switches on deck and remote control in cockpit. The anchor winch has an overload fuse protection. Double anchor rollers, 25 kg Delta anchor with 50 m galvanized 10 mm anchor chain. Anchor chain marked each 5 m. Four fenders with lines. Two 20 m 16 mm mooring warps. Three 13 m 16 mm mooring warps.
