Engines And Propulsion System

Twin GM six cylinder 185 HP marinized diesels

 Borg Warner Velvet Drives Transmissions. Reduction Gear Ratio is 2.10:1  

Cast steel engine mounts rubber dampened and bolted to steel stringer beds to create flexible bushings.

The stainless steel shafts have 2” diameters.  The three blade bronze propellers (24X17)   

Ventilation is provided by two vents in the cabin sides for natural aspiration.

Exhaust manifolds are raw water keel cooled.

The salon floor provides access to the engines by means of six hatches.

  There are dual 12V exhaust blowers.  

Accommodations

There is storage in the forepeak.The forward cabin has four singles and a double berth to port. A toilet with sink is ensuite. A steel bulkhead provides a watertight door closure. The main cabin has a partial bulkhead and is furnished with settees, coffee tables, storage cabinets and a chart table.

The galley/saloon area has built-in appliances. The custom mahogany and oak folding dining table in the saloon area can comfortably seat 7 people. The galley table with custom-made seats can seat at least 5 people.

Next aft on the port side is a guest cabin with bunks. The adjacent aft head has a shower with sump which can be pumped overboard.

Next aft is the owner’s stateroom with double bed, closet storage space and a steel bulkhead style hatch which provides access to the lazarette.

GE refrigerator with freezer,  Princess electric stove with three burners and oven, 110 or 220V,  microwave oven,  sinks

Electronics And Navigation

Garmin GPS, Lowrance GPS with Chart Plotter, Raymarine  Autopilot ST (SeaTalk) 4000 with  remote compass gyro. Standard Horizon Depth Sounder, Lowrance Radar R11X and a VHF ship to shore radio. Standard Horizon Eclipse VHF, plus Ray 53 with Loud Hailer and Courier CB Radio.

Mechanical

Reverse cycle, water cooled, air conditioning is provided in two zones putting out 16,000 and 13,000 BTU’s with thermostat controls.     

The hot water heater (with relief valve) runs on 110V and has a 12 gallon capacity.      Cabin fans are positioned to supplement air handling. 

Bilge Pumps:   one 1.5HP electric sump pump, two 120V submersible with float switches, located near the main engines.  One is belt driven off the port engine.  

There is also a “Whale” heavy duty manual pump with capacity of over 800 gph.

An air compressor is used to pressurize the water system. Electric toilets both fore and aft empty into two holding tanks with capacity of 25 gallons each, constructed in epoxy coated steel, located under the aft guest cabin 

There is also a 12V deck wash down pump.  Windshield wipers at the bridge.  

Through Hulls:  5” diameter stand pipes with strainers in the engine room and below the after starboard berth for engine cooling. Ball valves are fitted at the intakes.

 

Steering System

Wheel activated mechanical with chain and sprocket and solid linkage to gears,   connecting to port rudder stock, then cross coupled to starboard. The suspended spade rudders are fabricated from steel plate. A fabricated skeg is integral to the hull.

Fuel System

There are four baffled steel fuel tanks (2X200) which are located midships under the forward cabin sole and two (100) under the forward end of the main salon with 600 gallons in total. They are filled from the foredeck locker. Overflow is channeled to run overboard. These are vented to the atmosphere through the topsides. Proper flame suppression screens have been fitted and there are shut off valves at the manifold. Metal cartridge style filters.

Deck Details

The 10 gauge steel foredeck has a non skid surface, a rubrail and a reinforced forehatch. A sun seat doubles as a storage locker which is used to house some of the pressure water system components. The side decks are open.  

The stainless steel swim platform has a boarding ladder.  Deck cleats are mounted on the midship and aft coamings on each side.

The roof can be easily accessed by unfolding the custom ladder (to starboard) onto the forward cabin roof. 

 

Deck House

The single deck is raised forward. There are access doors to the enclosed bridge. Cabin sides are steel framed with wood stringers surrounding foam insulation inserts and held in place with fiberglass coated plywood liners. The inner hull is finished with mahogany and oak panelling. The ceiling is lined with acoustic tile. The side windows are fabricated with tempered glass.  

The aft deck is recessed and is configured with steel hatches which access the lazarette and steering components.  

Hull Construction

All welded zinc coated steel plate with bottom frames measuring 2.5” X 2.5” .  Toe welded angle iron on 13-16” centres. Topsides 3/16” , Bottom plates ¼”, Keel is a hollow shell with baffles of varied thickness 5/16” to 7/16”, designed to hold 270 gallons of engine cooling water, including 120 gallons of glycol.

There are five steel bulkheads.
