$200,000 in upgrades & servicing since 2021! Boathouse-kept. Ready to Cruise this summer!
Gooso is an excellent classic pilothouse, with modern updates. She was repowered in 2015 with Cummins QSB6.7s (380 HP each), with 647 hours as of 03/12/25. Her current owners have poured in about $200,000 in upgrades and servicing since 2021, making her ready for extended cruising.
She features an ample aft deck where everyone can relax in comfort. Spacious lazarette for storage and equipment. The extended swim platform with the removable hoop rails makes boarding from the side more safe and comfortable.
The Cummins QSB engines are quiet and clean-burning. The machinery space can be accessed from the lazarette or the mid ship stateroom. It shines and access is excellent for maintenance. Getting around the side is safe and comfortable because of wide and protected fiberglass non-skid side decks and high bulwarks.
She has been kept in a boathouse at Tacoma Yacht Club since 2022; the boathouse is available at an additional cost.

Notable Improvements with the Past Owners:
Hull and Deck:
The Grand Alaskan 53 pilothouse has full walk-around decks with covered sidedecks. There are bulwark doors to get off and on the vessel aft, to port and starboard, and again to port and starboard by the Pilothouse (elevated). There is a Portuguese bridge to provide protection in inclement weather. The flybridge can be accessed from the Pilothouse, and there is a second helm, great seating and further aft, a large davit system and tender chocks.
Aft Cockpit:
The aft cockpit is a large, wide space with plenty of room for entertaining, fishing, or dining. There is a nice settee with a fold-out table centerline, with space to add chairs. There is an overhead that covers most of the cockpit, and new LED lights to brighten it up. There's a propane BBQ and great access to the dock via two bulwark doors. Finally, there is a large hatch to the Lazarette, which leads into the engine room.
Foredeck:
Flybridge/Upper Helm:
Accessible from the Pilothouse, the flybridge features the 2nd helm, with 2 Stidd chairs and behind it an L-shaped settee and table and to starboard a small settee. There's an updated bimini top with forward windows. Behind the seating are two large fiberglass storage bins that would house a deep freezer or BBQ, and further aft in a cordoned-off space is the crane with tender chocks.
Anchoring & Mooring:
General:
Salon:
Galley:
Pilothouse / Helm Station:
Up 4 steps from the salon is the Pilothouse. It features a generous, elevated L-shaped settee to Port that can easily seat 4, with a wood fold out table for dinners. There’s very nice visibility forward and to port and starboard, and good storage. There are doors to port and starboard that lead you forward and aft, and two small overhead hatches for ventilation. The helm station has a lot of counter space, and the electronics and controls have almost all been upgraded from the original setup. There’s a comfortable Stidd chair to settle on.
Forward Cabin:
The forward cabin is currently the only cabin with a berth for two. This is a Queen-sized island berth, with two steps to get up easily. The cabin is nicely appointed in wood, with carpet pads for most of the flooring. There are nice flat surfaces around the bed for your things, and lots of cabinetry for storage.
There is a direct door to the forward head.
Forward Head:
The Forward Head is accessible from the hallway just down the stairs, or from the forward cabin, through two doors. Features a separate shower stall, a nice vanity with Brass sink.
Midship Cabin:
The Midship Cabin is just down the stairs from the Pilothouse, to the left. It’s about 8.5 feet x 10 feet wide. It’s currently set up with twin bunk berth set in an L-pattern. I could easily see ripping this out and installing a large berth, Queen sized or more, connected to either the fwd, Port, or aft bulkheads. This would easily be the primary cabin.
Just below the top berth is a Spendide combo washer-dryer. There is a deep hanging locker to starboard, next to the Midship Head. There is a 3-drawer vanity, and a column of cabinets with a small TV.
Finally, there is a 3 foot tall access door to the engine room, with double doors for sound insulation.
Midship Head (Inside Midship Cabin):
The Midship Head has a separate shower stall, with nice teak seating and an opening hatch. The vanity is about 4 foot-wide, with a single copper sink, There are two tall mirrors, and three cabinets plus access below the sink for systems, and a drawer. There is an opening hatch above the sink.
Lazarette:
The Lazarette is very large and can store a lot of extra gear easily. It easily houses the extra equipment as well. Offers access into the engine room.
