The yawl WEATHERLY was designed by Sparkman and Stephens and launched in 1972 by Driscoll Custom Boats as one of four near sisters to come from the yard. The Driscoll’s loved the design so much, that one of the originals remains in the family today, and another is currently owned by famed Americas Cup skipper Dennis Connor.
Weatherly was based in Gig Harbor, Washington for most of her life, where she was continually upgraded and very well maintained – turning heads often and participating in Port Townsend’s Wooden Boat Festival.
She features a large bright interior, perfect for entertaining. Her modern ketch rig and electric sheet winches make short-handed sailing a breeze, and her double-planked mahogany construction with laminated oak frames and bronze fasteners and reinforcements throughout represent the ultimate evolution of traditional wooden construction.
In 2024 WHEATHERLY was trucked to Newport, RI where she is currently in the water under cover.
