A very unique yacht that is ready to sail the world for new adventures. Anabel is a very seaworthy yacht that has been built for unlimited cruising and a unique design which is totally “Custom built”. Only one owner from new.
Built in the prestigious KM shipyard in Holland and designed by Dykstra Naval architects, it is made to the specifications of its owner who is a very experienced sailor. All on this yacht is thinking of safety, seaworthiness but not leaving aside the maximum comfort it provides for life onboard. There are no other boats like this on the market this is the reason for its customization.
You can tell from the pilot house that the owner has an aviation background. Just one big helm seat, centrally positioned, straight in front of an instrument panel, featuring gauges, digital displays and buttons. There are even switches with various functions on the ceiling. The windows provide an all-round view outside and above in order to keep an eye on the sails.
Some key facts about this yacht are:
Welded aluminum hull and deck on the solid side of performance.
– Outside plating is in ALUSTAR 5059 H321
– Hull form for gentle motion.
– Essential equipment is mostly serviceable/repairable in the field.
– Essential equipment does not rely (too much) on computer technology.
Walkthrough inside from Bow to Stern.
The Forepeak is the first watertight section, and accommodates sail bags, rope and fenders. A FORTRESS FX125 spare anchor is mounted on the port side. There is a big aluminum reel on port side aft, that accommodates a gennaker in a sock. There is one more aluminum reel to store mooring lines.
Following additional equipment is installed.: Electric circuit breaker and switch box, hydraulic bow thruster, 2 combination pumps for bilge drain, anchor locker drain, anchor chain wash , seawaterdeckhose. One Standpipe on the starboard side aft supplies this forepeak pump and the forward head. There is 1 small inspection hatch from the forward head into the forepeak at chest height. This hatch enables you to activate said pumps, and white, or red lights, and do a visual check of the forepeak.
The forward cabin is the second watertight section with access from the salon via a watertight door. At the forward end is the bathroom. Holding tanks for this head are directly behind and above the heads, for short pumping distance and easy flush. The bed is on Starboard between hull and keel case, to have the sleeping body supported on both tacks. The chain locker is a watertight compartment directly ahead of the keel case, sitting low and in the center of the boat. On the portside, forward of the watertight door is an office desk with a computer suspended on bungee cords, to absorb shocks from pounding seas.
The technical equipment in this section 2 consists of an electric bilge pump, washing machine, a COMMANDMIC at the bed for VHF radio and intercom capability with NAV- station and helm. 230V outlets at the desk for the Mac and others stuff. 1 AC outlet in the cabinet over the wash basin. Hot and cold water + heating radiators .
There is ample storage throughout the boat, the forward cabin, being the owners cabin , is privileged and has locker space fit for a king.
The Salon is the third watertight section.
From the watertight door aft is the utility area opposite the keel case. Located here are the watermaker and the water pressure pump. The watermaker is in a convenient accessible open position for easy access and maintenance. Underneath is the water pressure system. Next is the washing machine. Further forward are the freezer/fridge boxes. The cooling compressors are below the box, and of 24V/DC to avoid inverter losses and not be inverter dependent. The cooling compressors are skin cooled, like the engine, so NO outside water is required.
Above the fridge and freezer is the 220V switchboard flanked by the sine- wave inverters. The 220V unit is supplied directly from the battery block and completely separated from the 12/24V system in order to prevent any possibility of electrical shock when working on the DC system. One more reason why this position has been chosen, is the close proximity to the heaviest consumers.: Washing machine, Stove, galley tools.
The Galley has two distinct stove systems. The electric stove is gimbaled. The « Wallas». The diesel stove needs only a little 12V supply, so there is redundancy to the 230V stove. There is ample storage to hold glasses ,plates and silverware. A dehumidifier is in this area as well.
Aft of the galley is the bathroom/head for the quarter cabins and guests. This bathroom is a little roomier, and has access from the salon, via a sliding door.
The port quarter cabin is the Nr. 2 cabin and is roomier than the starboard cabin. It has direct access to the head via a sliding door.
On starboard, aft of the watertight bulkhead, the seating area is situated. The table, being the only one inside the boat, can seat up to 8 people. A sound system from Maranz with KEF speakers provides a concert atmosphere and the sound for the beamer/screen combination, for cinema at sea. Very nice to relax with a movie, when you are in a storm. In the 20m boat class, this is the best sound system afloat.
Aft of the seating area is the Nr. 3 quarter cabin. The passage from the pilot-house to the salon is offset to starboard and engine access is provided to the right side of the engine. The hot water boiler is under this quarter cabin bed.
In the middle of the salon, right after the keel, the welded in aluminum compartment for the 1100 Amp/h NiCad battery block is situated. This compartment, being water- tight, sits as low as possible, and we build a bench above it that fits to the main table. The engine can be started from its dedicated starter battery, or from the main battery by the flip of a switch. The pre fuse box is mounted to the aft end of the battery box. Forward of the battery is a glass in the bottom, to enable a quick check of the bilge. At night, this place can be lit by a red inspection light.
Next to the battery is the main DC electric, circuit breaker and switch board. This cabinet-like compartment has 0.4m depth and holds some black box equipment as well. Instruments and switches face forward.
In order to trade space, for salon and cabins, the pilot house is on the smaller side for this size of boat, and a little further aft. There is no table except for the Nav. table. All navigational electronics are arranged from the center to port, in front of the navigator seat. The pilot house windows are brand new and made of SILATEC bullet proof glass ! This is primarily to make them as resistant as possible, against breakage in case of wave slap. The fact that they can stop a bullet is another positive, but not the primary reason for this choise.
Sails:
Mainsail 106m
Genoa 85m
Staysail ( inner Jib ) 33m Storm jib 25m
Storm trysail 29m
Small gennaker 199m Large gennaker ca. 250m
Propulsion:
LUGGER L1064T 4 cylinder, fairly slow turning, mechanically fuel controlled diesel engine. The fuel lifting system , that lifts fuel from the bottom tanks, into the day tank, has a hand operated pump as a backup, thus even without electricity, you could run the engine for six days on a full tank. The engine is keel cooled, thus no outside water is taken inside the boat. Large diameter CPP prop.
Navigation:
VHF/AIS – Class B ICOM
Radar SIMRAD
Autopilot SIMRAD
