AU PISTE is ready for immediate sale and located in Warwick, Rhode Island.The Gary Grant designed Norseman 400 is a roomy 40 footer that offers unparalleled offshore performance. At the dock the vessel provides for fantastic live-aboard amentities and a spacious interior. AU PISTE has 6'6" head room belowdecks in a bright salon, well-appointed galley, two comfortable staterooms, offering tremendous storage. The interior is finished in teak with generous use of solid wood in louvered locker doors and trim. The cabin sole is teak and holly and the removable headliner is white laminate with teak trim. Many solid handholds and laminated teak fiddles provide safety and comfort when moving about the vessel. The interior is open, airy and perfectly laid out for both offshore work and dockside living. Aft is a day head, and there is a second head forward with a separate stall shower.AU PISTE really struts her stuff when under sail. She sails magnificently in heavy air and sea conditions, and ghosts along in light breezes as well. The hull is hand laid-up molded fiberglass with an Airex PVC core. The deck is hand laid-up molded fiberglass cored with end grain balsa. Her decks are overlayed with teak and Thiokol, which provides for sure footing when sea conditions are less than ideal. The Norseman features a shoal draft modified full keel with internal lead ballast of 7,400 lbs. providing a good ballast/displacement ratio. This heavy keel provides excellent protection for cruising, and there are no keel bolts to worry about. The rudder is sandwich construction on a double stainless steel plate welded the entire length of the shaft. The rudder is protected by a reinforced skeg. A bronze gudgeon is attached to the skeg. Stainless steel chain plates are attached to chain plate web members encapsulated in fiberglass transferring loads evenly to hull. Stainless steel backup plates with twelve 3/8" bolts are provided for the upper chain plate. All stem fittings and chain plates are electropolished. Head stay and backstay chain plates are recessed.The attributes that describe the features and attention to detail of the Norseman 400 are many. The build quality is unlike any production or semi-production boat produced today. To get this level of quality in a 40 foot, offshore capable sloop, would require a significant investment.Other notable features:
