Entry to the vessel is through port or starboard weathertight pilothouse doors. To starboard are stairs leading to the master stateroom and head. Portside stairs lead to the galley; forward of the galley is the guest cabin and head. The engine room is accessed via a centerline watertight door at galley entry. Anchor locked is accessed from forward cabin. Lazarette is accessed from aft deck.
Entry into the pilothouse is from port and starboard sidedecks through weathertight Dutch doors. Large windows offer 360 degree viewing with the 2 aft windows and 2 forward opening for fresh ventilation. Vast array of electronics within easy reach. Pilot berth aft. Headroom is 6'3".
The robust electrical system provides available voltages: 12 VDC up to 30amps, 120VAC, and 240VAC up to 50amps. A large second alternator provides house bank charging while underway.
A centerline watertight door leads to the walk-in engine room. The main engine is dry exhaust. The dry exhaust is vented through a 10-inch steel expansion bellows exhaust pipe that extends through the aft portion of the cabin. It is wrapped with heat wrap. Engine coolant is circulated through the keel cooler. The exhaust is fitted with 5-inch stainless-steel tubing and 4 ft muffler. Wing engine and genset are wet exhaust. Extensive spare parts, specialty tools, etc.
The galley is on the starboard side with seating and table portside across from the island sink. Headroom is 6'3".
The guest cabin is accessed via stairs on the port side of the pilothouse which leads to the galley; forward of the galley is the guest cabin. Headroom is 6'5".
Stairs from the starboard side of the pilothouse lead to the master cabin aft. Ensuite head. Headroom between 5'11 - 6'8".
The Portuguese bridge has large storage compartments. The foredeck supports the dinghy and crane. The aft deck has storage containers as well as access to the lazarette.
Heavily built steel hull with aluminum superstructure. Bruce Roberts designed, all plans were USCG approved. Built indoors by 30 years experienced welders. All compartments are separated by steel bulkheads or watertight doors. Wire and piping pass throughs are sealed with ABS approved tumescent caulking. The hull is insulated with 2" navy board fiberglass insulation. The engine room is insulated with non-asbestos mineral wool with lead sheets for sound insulation. Most of the construction materials including bedding foam, canvas headliners, and structural walls do not support combustion.
The comprehensive collection of safety equipment includes fire fighting equipment (including automatic fire fighting system in the engine room). Each compartment has high capacity bilge pumps, high water alarms, and portable fire extinguishers. All USCG safety equipment supplied.
