"Hokule'a", Joey Cabell's dream catamaran, designed by Joe Quigg, another famous surfer. The boat was built at 404 Piikoi Street in Honolulu, and finished in 1974.
Broker's note: At the time I was renting a space in 404 Piikoi. My spot was filled with all the equipment needed to work with wood as I was readying my vessel "Kalua", built in 1946 in Tasmania, to leave Hawaii for a two year cruise. The energy at that corner, old warehouse was amazing. So much talent. Watching, talking story, and just being envolved with such a place filled with forward thinkers and doers still fills me with happiness.
We all remember Joe Quigg and Joey Cabell building this "Rocket Ship" way in the back. The molds were destroyed after Hokule'a was built, so, she is truly one of a kind. Built of solid glass.
There is a fairly current survey available performed when the boat was out of the water.
Vessel is easy to show in Waikiki.
