Jenny Clark Boat | 50' Trumpy 1962

John Trumpy designed smoe of the wolrd's most iconic motor yachts which are celebrated for their timeless design, craftsmanship and rich historical value.  In a world of mass produced yachts, JENNY CLARK stands out in a crowd.  JENNY CLARK  comes from a long line of exquisitely built yachts that have stage presence. When she enters a harbor, every single head turns and stares in absolute awe and sometimes even envy. JENNY CLARK like her sisterships built by Trumpy  has that hard-to-define appeal. Like a Frank Lloyd Wright house or a Rolls Royce, they are a product of their time yet possess a timeless appeal to all ages.

Built from the 1920s to 1970s, Trumpy yachts are a study in elegance, grace and amazing sea keeping abilities. Their sleek profile, crisp  hull design  and finely  polished wood detailing exude luxury and leisure.

Although more than 400 were built, each Trumpy was meticulously handcrafted to the owner’s specifications. While every Trumpy is unique, the boats have a signature look and always the essential Trumpy embellishment: carved wood scrollwork on the bow that, on close inspection, incorporates a capital T. In their heyday, the boats were de rigueur for members of the aristocracy, among them aviation pioneer Howard Hughes, the Chrysler family and the Duponts.

The most famous Trumpy motor yacht is the 104' presidential yacht THE SEQUOIA  lanched in 1925.  Her little sister JENNY CLARK follows in her big sister's footsteps as an example of an ultimate "DREAM YACHT"

Watching JENNY CLARK glide by, one can  envisage a leisurely, even presidential afternoon aboard, dining in formal elegance or fishing off the back deck. Many of these boats have been lovingly cared for over the years and still show up on the market.  JENNY CLARK is an estate sale and has beeen priced agressively in order to find a new custodian for this wonderful example of American Maritime History.  All offers will be considered.  Easy to preview in Beaufort, SC, she is a beauty needing a new custodian.

Vessel Walk Through

JENNY CLARK was originally launched as ARIES  in 1962.  She is a semi-displacement Modified V hull with a flat bottom and a gorgeous flared bow. Her hull was originally double planked mahogany over white oak ribs and frames. Her massive keel is white oak.  In 1988, the owner at the time took her to THE MERRITT BOAT COMPANY OF POMPANO to have her hull fiber glassed after a sufficient amount of time was spent on the hard drying out.  Over the years she has had many upgrades and stringent maintenance programs.  Her most recent major refit was between 2016- 2018 when she underwent a 1 million dollar refit at the legendary MOORES MARINE in Beaufort NC. To say that she had just about every nook and cranny inspected and replaced as needed is an understatement.  All new ribs, frames, knees, wiring, plumbing, electrical, mechanical with the exception of the main engines, windows, decks etc.  She was rebuilt to her original hull specifications and then fiber glassed from the water line down. She also received many very cool upgrades such as a water jet drive stern thruster and a Side Power bow thruster making her very easy to maneuver. She was essentially new when launched in 2018 after nearly 2 years in a shed. Her top sides were gleaming with the new Awl Grip and her electronics were state of the art.

Since 2018, she has been living in Beaufort SC.  Walking up to JENNY CLARK your heart does start to beat faster.  Her graceful lines are so eye appealing.  But she is in need of another minor refit with regards to her topsides.

Stepping aboard the JENNY CLARK on the port side, you enter the upper aft deck saloon through the port side aft door. The first thing that grabs your attention is the granite circular bar off set with varnished cap rails located just aft of the helm seating.  This bar area is without a doubt the focal point of the entertaining for which the upper aft deck saloon was designed. There is a refrigerator, and an ice maker located behind the bar.   There is dedicated bottle and glass storage and a stainless-steel sink. The entire aft deck has either sliding opening windows or isinglass so that your visibility is 360 degrees of incredible vistas. She has siding glass windows extending from the 2 pilot house doors aft to the stern. Across the stern there is isinglass roll up panels. Also the stern has the gate that leads down to the teak swim platform Even though this area is completely climate controlled, one can have total fresh air by opening her up completely   There is a variety of free standing chairs and a beautiful coffee table.  The overhead is traditional white new fiberglass panels made to look like tongue and groove wood with teak battens. Looking forward, one finds the helm area with quite a complement of electronics.  I am not listing them as all of them power up but have not been proven.  The extensive bow seems to go on forever when viewed from the command helm seat.  There is plenty of highly varnished bright work that also hides various storage and locker areas The upper aft saloon sole is teak as well The helm seat will seat 3 to 4 people quite comfortably. The traditional wood steering wheel is magnificent and is highly varnished. The three main windows of the windshield do have windshield wipers, but they have not been proven. The central window actually is an opening window as well.  There are even storage drawers  for your traditional paper charts.

Proceeding forward through the privacy door located to port of helm and down three steps, one enters another large lower saloon This area is absolutely drenched in natural lighting  Again guests will love the beautiful vistas that can be enjoyed from the lower saloon while cruising.

To port there is a stand alone large seat and directly across is an off white rolled and tufted settee.  There are the most magnificent custom burl counter tops are under the forward windows. A lovely expandable teak table is located on the starboard side in front of the rolled and tufted settee.  Built in storage with burl tops, 5 drawers and bookshelves are located aft in the saloon.  Great visibility for 270 degrees through large opening side windows and the large windows forward.  This area has a carpeted sole with a white overhead that is complemented with teak battens.

Proceeding forward and down 3 stairs one enters the galley.  Opening portlights and an overhead hatch do provide fresh air in this air-conditioned galley. Painted a traditional light blue with varnished accents and varnished teak sole. One of the newer upgraded electrical panels is located on the aft port side of the galley. Varnished soles are found both here and forward in the guest cabin. One can lift the 3 stairs that descend from the lower main  saloon to enter the engine room.

Proceeding forward of the galley one enters the guest/crew en-suite cabin with over/under berths.  This area has beautiful teak sole, a good sized hanging closet and a very decent sized head. A separate shower stall compartment has 6' headroom and an opening port light.  The original silver hardware has been kept in this area which is just such a nice classic touch.  Access to the chain locker is also through the forward end of the head compartment.

Going back up to the main saloon and across to the aft companionway and down the 4 stairs to the guest and master staterooms. The hallway has brilliant white walls and was carpeted with blue carpet. The guest/day head is located to port with a separate shower stall, electric head and good storage.

To starboard is the twin side by side stateroom. Under the inboard berth are the controls for the water jet stern thruster as well as batteries in dedicated boxes. This stateroom has 2 opening port lights and a large hanging locker.

Continuing aft one finds the traditional master stateroom with twin berths separated by a double built in beautiful mahogany dresser.  Additional drawer storage is under each mahogany trimmed berth.  There are built in book shelves  Opening port lights with custom window treatments provides natural lighting. The gleaming white overhead complements the  blue carpet.  The double hanging locker is substantial and has monogrammed JENNY CLARK towels.  Forward in the aft stateroom there is a vanity with seating.

The master head has electric toilet, opening port lights with custom window treatments, a very good sized separate shower stall.  There is abundant storage consisting of 4 cabinets located to outboard.  The sink is a very classic 60's era sink with beautiful sconces and a large wood trimmed mirror over the sink. Truly spectacular varnished teak sole suits perfectly the decor of the master head.

Back up on deck in the upper saloon one does see the ladder to the FLY BRIDGE located to port. Up on the flybridge there is excellent visibility. There is a very nice bench seating with cushions that are in excellent condition as they are stored inside.

Brokers Comments

JENNY CLARK is in need of a new custodian to return her to her former glory.  There is water damage to the cabin sides and to the forward deck area. She needs an upgrade in cosmetics such as new varnish on her exterior and paint on the cabin sides once the leaking areas are repaired. There seems to be a concentrated area of water intrusion on the port side of the cabin top over the lower saloon. She requires new isinglass for the aft upper saloon and this has been ordered. The carpet is serviceable Her exterior cushions are in excellent condition. The majority of her bright work below decks is in excellent condition.  She has incredible refit records on board.

JENNY CLARK  has an incredibly strong hull that has been professionally fiber glassed.  She has great bones, strong mechanicals, lovely layout, bow thruster, stern thruster, and a truly historical pedigree.  What the estate needs is a reasonable offer.  All offers will be considered.

THIS IS A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A UNIQUE PIECE OF AMERICAN MARITIME HISTORY.
