The following is attributed to Marine Surveyor Dave Boersema, Harbor Marine Surveying, Spring Lake Michigan. At the time of this owner’s purchase of “Laura Lee’ in 1997, Surveyor Boersema provided this very well-written description of the layout and key additional features, as follows (with minor edits):
The 52 Jefferson Marquessa has a very functional and spacious layout that is ideal for family cruising, live-aboards, and entertaining. Throughout the interior there are vinyl headliners, vinyl hull liners, professionally cut carpet over teak flooring, beautiful teak trim and paneling, bulkheads, and color coordinated fabrics, curtains, and bedding. The teak cabinetry joinery and finish is exceptionally well done and in excellent overall condition.
Two helm stations, one located on the bridge and one on the deckhouse centerline forward with sliding side doors to both the port and starboard walkways amidship. Both helm stations are is well laid-out with the bridge having a hinged aluminum radar arch, canvas top with stainless steel bows, L-shaped bench seats on port and starboard aft, table, a vinyl covered swiveling captains chair, a stainless steel sink.
Starting from the bow, there is a guest cabin with offset bunks on starboard, storage, large hatch overhead, portlights on port and starboard, privacy door to the galley up, door to the head on port, D.C. lighting, air conditioner fan control, and a large hanging locker to port.
The forward head on port has a stainless steel sink with hot and cold water, medicine cabinet, an electric head, a portlight, walk-in FRP shower, a power vent, A.C. outlet (GFCI), and lighting.
Next aft is the galley/dinette on starboard/port. The galley is well arranged with, teak storage cabinetry, teak and trim, vinyl flooring with a large floor hatch access to the generator compartment, a large stainless steel double sink, Corian counter tops, a GE Spacemaker 4 burner electric stove with oven, a HOTPOINT refrigerator/ freezer, GE Spacemaker microwave, GE trash compactor, A.C. and D.C. lighting, and an A.C. (GFCI) outlet.
Across from the galley to port is the dinette with a teak hi/low table, numerous storage compartments, teak woodwork, A.C. outlets, lighting, and the companionways to the deckhouse and aft cabins.
Next aft and up steps is the main salon/pilothouse with, the pilothouse having port and starboard side doors, a stainless steel ladder to the bridge on starboard, custom etched glass partition between the pilothouse and main salon which lights up, large teak helm bench seat with numerous storage compartments, excellent 180% visibility through the large windshields and side windows, and the main A.C./D.C. distribution panels on port at the companionway steps.
The main salon has a large L-shaped ultra-suede couch to starboard with storage underneath, 2 swivel chairs and an end table on port, windows all around with blinds and valances, teak paneling, carpeting, the French doors aft to the afterdeck, and an entertainment center forward. French doors open to the aft deck. The aft deck is quite large for a vessel of her size and configuration with, port and starboard wing doors, French doors forward to the deckhouse, FRP spray rails and bridge overhang with stainless steel supports, a wet bar to port forward with a sink, refrigerator/ice maker, storage cabinet, countertop blender, SEA BAR electric dispenser, lighting, side and forward glass windows, aft isinglass enclosure, A.C. outlets, carpeting, C-phone.
Next aft from the galley and down the stairs to starboard is the guest stateroom with a large offset double berth, a vanity aft, and a large hanging locker forward.
Across from the guest cabin to port is the guest head with walk-in shower, electric flush head, power vent, portlight, lighting, and GFCI.
The master stateroom has a large island double berth, teak cabinetry on port and starboard, large hanging/bureau lockers on port with a vanity, portlights on port and starboard along with the emergency hatch on the transom. On starboard ensuite is the master head with, walk-in shower, electric head, medicine cabinet, Corian sink, A.C. outlet, and storage.
