The Legacy 36’s traditional Downeast styling provides both comfort and proven stability while underway or nestled in its favorite mooring field. Beautiful at anchor or at the dock, this gorgeous Mark Ellis hull design is known for her head-turning looks wherever she goes.
The hull design uses a modified deep V hull, with a wide chine and centerline flats extending aft to produce a sea kindly hull that gets up on plane at low speeds. This combination delivers great performance and handling characteristics- and with excellent fuel efficiency. Under the water is a keel/ skeg combination that offers superior tracking and great protection for the prop and the rudder. Forward, the sharp V entry allows the Legacy 36 to handle the toughest conditions, while keeping the ride smoother, quieter, dry and stable.
LINDA LOU’s owners are experienced boaters, with an extremely detail oriented Captain. He loves his boat but felt it could track a little better. He consulted with a naval architect and hired a local yard, adding a few pounds, reinforcing the drive shaft a bit more- and it improved the ride enough that he felt it was money well spent. He visits the boat at least once a day and has retained a professional technician to visit his boat once a week, maintaining and servicing anything he feels it needs to be kept in tip-top shape. It shows.
The Legacy 36 is a perfect couple’s cruiser. Features such as a center island berth, separate stall shower, generator, heat and air conditioning make this one of the most comfortable boats in this range. The helm deck salon beckons you aboard while the luxurious, handcrafted interiors make you want to never leave.
“LINDA LOU” is a great example of these beautiful boats and certainly won’t disappoint. There were only 11 of these hulls built, so they are rare on the market. Call and make an appointment to see her for yourself before she is gone!

Stateroom: The centerpiece of the space is a walk-around island berth that is about 80” long, 57” at the shoulders and 52” at the foot. The mattress was just replaced from Legacy and has never been slept on. There are two pull-out drawers at the foot; beneath the berth is access to the bow thruster and air conditioning. There is a step-up on either side to get in the berth, with cedar lined hanging lockers, another locker forward with shelves and fiddled shelves above and on either side. There is a TV mounted on the bulkhead and a pair of speakers for the stereo system above the bed. Lighting in this area is from four overhead lights and two reading lights. There is an overhead hatch and 2 opening ports for additional lighting and ventilation. This space has its own 8,000 BTU air conditioning unit. Headroom in the Master stateroom is 6’1”.
Helm Deck: As you step into the helm deck on starboard is a 64” straight settee. Across from that are a pair of barrel back club chairs; an angled table with storage inside is between them. Behind the table is a concealed television which can be raised for viewing. Forward of the lounge seating areas are a pair of Stidd helm seats. Beneath each helm seat is a large locker space which houses both air conditioning units. The port helm seat has a flip down footrest in addition to a wood footrest forward. There is a chart table with storage space beneath the lid. At the helm there is a wooden footrest and a tilting helm wheel. Twin 12” Simrad displays as well as all other operating controls provide easy to read information at your fingertips. The center windshield opens for great ventilation, there is an opening hatch over each seat and the side windows at either helm seat slide open as well. Headroom in the helm deck is 6’ 3”.
Head: The head is on starboard across from the galley. Looking in, there is an L-shape counter and sink to your left, with a storage locker beneath the sink. Directly across from the entry is the head, with a hamper behind that and double door medicine cabinets above the counter. To the right of that is a separate shower stall with door and seat. Headroom is 6’1”. Ventilation and lighting are provided by 2 dressing room lights above the mirror, 2 overhead lights, an overhead hatch and 2 opening ports.
Galley: The galley is at the base of the stairway and is open to the bridge above, allowing for lots of headroom and natural light. The C-shaped countertop has the sink towards centerline aft. Outboard of the sink is a top loading freezer; above the freezer is the microwave. Moving around along the hull is the cooktop, with a pull-out drawer refrigerator and drop door locker beneath that for pots and pans. Above those and along the hull are three lockers; at the forward end is a coffee maker which is hardwired and plumbed into the vessel systems, including pressure water filtration. The forward end of the counter is peninsula shaped and has a great rounded pull-out cabinet for storage.
The hull is infused under vacuum with high strength epoxy modified vinylester resin in one shot, eliminating air voids, and compacting the laminate to the ideal resin to glass ratio. By utilizing the best marine gel coat and high strength knitted e-glass unidirectional fabrics over synthetic coring, the Legacy 36 will deliver years of safe and reliable performance.
The engine room walls and overhead surfaces are completely sound insulated. Cavities and wireways are foam filled after installation to prevent noise passage. Hatches are gasket sealed and latched to provide sound insulation. All machinery is vibration dampened to reduce noise. There is a seat / step on pedestal base for ease of access.
LINDA LOU has received annual fluids/ filters/ impeller changes on the engine and genset. Her yacht manager is a diesel mechanic, so she gets attention accordingly.
